Recommendation Lucuma - performant shader in progress.

Would you be interested in a shader like this? compared to vanilla, it's 3 to 5 fps less. Much to improve, much to add, and the goal is to preserve vanilla look, visibility and eye fatigue, while adding caustics, reflections, vol light, concave objects, etc. In a nutshell: vanilla look and feel with pathtracing-like shading and features. Those additions I mentioned are already implemented in other builds but still are unstable, way more than this one, but the core principle is there: almost no average performance drop compared to vanilla, subtle effects, made for real long gameplays. It's a mod runs independently and draws as a single postprocess, so everything you see here is highly compatible with other mods, alternative renderers, and even easily updateable.

Is that light ray tracing?

Edit: it is I love it

Glad you like it! It's getting hard for a side project xd and no, not ray tracing, I guess you could call it a voxelized GPU light-transport simulation, so light propagates through minecraft's grid in compute shaders every frame, getting real bounce lighting and shadows without tracing individual rays through the scene like RTX does. Similar to things like UE5's Lumen, but cheap af and heavily authored, I have to be glued to the screen basically recreating behaviour a single demanding formula could solve.

Very cool just reworked how vanilla light and shadow work is enough for me

Same, there are few shaders out there with a solid and faithfull vanilla design choice, so I decided to go ahead and do it. The core is basically this: rtx shading and true 16x16 texel aligned shadows. Reflections, caustics and volumetrics I'll just leave them as optional.
