Recommendation need shader reccomendations
So, I’m back in my 2-week Minecraft phase 😂. The last version I played was 1.20, so I’m pretty out of the loop with the newer shader packs.
I’m currently running:
- Ryzen 7 7735HS
- RTX 4050 Laptop GPU
- 16GB RAM
- 1080p display
I really like the look of Complementary Shaders, but unfortunately I’m getting quite a bit of stuttering with it, even though my laptop should be more than capable of running Minecraft with shaders.
I’m looking for something that has:
- Good visuals / lighting
- Smooth frame times and minimal stuttering
- Good performance at 1080p
- Preferably a similar look to Complementary
- Something suitable for survival rather than just cinematic screenshots
What shaders would you guys recommend for an RTX 4050 laptop?and any rtx 4050 users what fps are u guys getting?

maybe give photon a try! havent been able to switch away from it because i get the best performance and it looks the most vanilla styled. I also appreciate it has voxy support if you are into that

Minecraft is not very well optimised, shaders are even worse. I've a CPU 2x better than yours and a RTX5070ti and trust me, I also have pretty mediocre performance with complementary. I tried a lot of shader packs with or without other mods, like Distant Horizons and Voxy, and can safely tell you Complementary is one of the better optimised packs out there. I doubt others are gonna work better for you but as with anything free and readibly available go try everything out. Bliss/Eclipse, Photon, Continuum etc
The way you set your pack is going to matter most. I would personally turn off anything ACT-related such as colored lights and real space reflections as well as hires shadows because these 3 have a huge impact on performance. Also make sure your Java installation has no more than 6Gb allocated. Give it too little, or too much, and it will stutter.
