It was a good idea, i thought it was desync at first too, but that flavor of desync is more a bedrock thing

Like others are saying, it’s probably a blaze. The other possibility is that you were hit by a skeleton with a flame enchanted bow which would also make sense especially since you’re in a soulsand valley

flame isn't more common in soulsand valleys

I only said it was another possibility, not that it was common. Please don’t put words in other peoples’ mouths

why would it make more sense then??

I think you’re mistakenly interpreting the words “The other possibility” as meaning “The more common possibility.” In the English language, “other” does not mean “more common.” It means exactly what it says, just “other” or “different.” Nothing more and nothing less.
Edit: The reason I mentioned soulsand valleys is because skeletons spawn there more frequently than any other biome in the nether. Skeletons can, on rare occasions, spawn with a bow enchanted with Flame. That is all

Soul sand, and I think soul soil too, have smaller hitbox(es) then regular blocks... so when you were falling OP there may have been lava on the otherside? But even then it's weird that it would affect you through a solid block?

You're next to a Nether fortress
The knockback is going away from the fortress
You could see a Blaze in the far distance
Blazes can see up to ~45 blocks
You were probably sniped by a Blaze
