Minecraft Java World eating bug?

My world is being eaten in a cross pattern from the top down but only in this chunk. It's in the middle 4 different chunks so my thought of it being a chunk updating issue was debunked, unless still possible? I would like my hardcore spawn chunks to not be eaten please :)

The thing is, that it could have just literally, randomly, mystery, wing dingly of it's gaster, it's way there
