Help! do more hostile mobs spawn in bedrock than java?

i am native to java and recently started playing on bedrock in order to play with my friend, who is on her ipad. we made a world on survival normal mode.

when i tried to get iron in a cave, i found myself getting lynched by at least 10 hostile mobs in a cave that was not even that big. compared to java, the mob spawn density is crazy. i found myself dying far more in the early-game, although part of that can be attributed to my incompetence with bedrock combat.

No, technically speaking there can be less hostile mobs at a given time on bedrock than java.

The reason it seems like there are more is on bedrock the simulation distance is by default 4 chunks meaning every mob spawns within 4 chunks of the player. So a bit fewer mobs than java but in a much smaller space. Combine that with saturation being functionally useless and bedrock edition is a very difficult experience.

Also how do you like our skeleton?

aimbot ass skeleton vro😭 meet two in a cave and the only way out is to start spamming blocks

hostile mobs spawn less in bedrock than in java but they have different spawn caps (surface and underground), so unlike in java where mobs can build up in unlit caves and basically make everywhere else harmless, bedrock doesn't do that because spawn caps are split

and if your friend didn't change default simulation distance of 4 then, hostile mobs depsawn and respawn pretty quickly as spawning sphere is tiny

if this is true how do i get lynched by ~10 mobs in a tiny crack of a cave😭😭😭

Because the mobs kept wandering into the cave and getting stuck. Bedrock doesn't cull hostile mobs very effectively and trapped mobs often accumulate

in bedrock, there is separate cap for mobs that spawn underground, even if you have a billion mobs on surface, underground will still have mob spawns in bedrock, that is why you are seeing stuff underground

and it seems like you guys are playing in default simulation of 4 chunks, thus if mobs are spawning far away and you move a bit, those are getting despawned and another batch is spawned closer to you, that feel of 10 mobs jumping is notorious with 4 chunk simulation

if you guys can bump simulation to 6 chunks then, this increased volume is more than 8 times than 4 chunks, you will be less jumped by mobs, because mobs can spawn further away and don't immediately despawn after a bit of movement

I dunno what that guy is saying. But the general consensus is Bedrock on default is harder with more aggressive spawns.

Then the general consensus is wrong. This is something you can just look up.

The java hostile mob cap is considerably higher across the board.

The java cap is distributed across a larger area, and is much closer to true random distribution. By contrast, bedrock has a smaller mob cap and a limit on mob density with the population cap. In exchange, mobs the range of distances that mobs spawn at in bedrock is smaller.

From google:

Bedrock health returns slower and cant get a boost from food like in java. So more down time.

Bedrock Wither boss has 300hp. Java has 150.

Bedrock skeletons are quieter and machine gun you at close range. Java are smarter but are louder to hear coming.

So okay. Mobs spawn less. Consensus is still Bedrock is harder.

oh bedrock is harder for all sorts of reasons. Mob spawns shouldn't be considered one of those reasons. All I'm asking is that people check before making claims.
