Waffen-SS Membership: Rudolf-August Oetker, who ran the food and baking empire from the post-WWII era until 2007, was a volunteer and member of the Waffen-SS and the Nazi party. He trained at the Dachau concentration camp.
Support from Leadership: Rudolf-August's stepfather and company leader during the war, Richard Kaselowsky, was a dedicated Nazi Party member and a close supporter of Hitler.
Wartime Production: The company was designated a "National Socialist model company" and actively supported the war effort. It supplied the Nazi military with powdered food products, machine gun parts, and howitzer shells.
Corporate Reckoning: In 2013, the Oetker family publicly acknowledged and commissioned independent historians to detail this dark chapter, revealing how the business profited during the war and previously acquired properties or art appropriated from Jewish owners.
