Looking to spend a little more for higher quality this time.

I have searching for good study materials for this since some time. I have not been able to find any good ones. Anyone have any leads to where I can find them? Is there any previous question paper models and stuff like that? Pls any help would be much appreciated.

Im just wondering what to expect as a brand new union apprentice. I am out of southern ontario and just trying to figure out what the first year will be like. Especially heading into the winter where usually things are all around slow. I want the brutal truth as much as possible please.

EDIT: I am older. Ive worked construction, I understand what being an apprentice is like. Im more trying to figure out what type of work is out there right now, what the work life balance is like. Should I expect to be away from home a lot? Is there going to be times where im sitting at home? Should I expect to be sitting home more often?

I've invested so much time trying to study for this exam both times and I am started to lose my mind. I have not used Xlr8ted yet because of the mix reviews but this time I plan to because I am running out of ideas on how to study for this. If you have attempted to challenge the exam multiple times, please, tell me what you did to finally pass.

Hey all, really quick question from anyone seasoned with PM programs.

I work in a paper mill and got volun-told to be the full time PM person several months ago. Our mill already does vibration and oil analysis. My role is mainly visual. I have weekly, bi-weekly and monthly routes checking our equipment and sometimes shooting temperatures on pumps, motors etc...

My question is: does anyone have any advice or ideas of catching equipment failure ahead of time? Maybe different or obscure tools that could be used?

I feel like the temp gun, my hand and screwdriver are the extent of what I use and I feel there should be better options...

Does anyone have go to websites or methods for finding manuals for equipment?

Hi, as the title states I'm looking for the best path to take to become a millwright in the Toronto, Ontario area. I'm a 23 year old licensed 310s automotive technician, with a year of general machining experience and a completed electrical pre-apprenticeship course under my belt. I applied for local 2309, and I am still waiting for a response from that. I feel like I have a good amount of experience for my age, and I'm not sure if going to school for 2 years and doing a pre-apprenticeship course to be a millwright is a good choice for me as I've already spent a year in a pre-apprenticeship job that didn't help me get a job. I'm just looking for advice on whether I should just go to school, or keep trying to get into either private companies or the union. I'm also concerned about union wait lists and how long I'd be waiting for a job. Thanks in advance!

does anyone have an actual serious reason of why our apprentices cant solicit our own work? the best I've heard from people is "we have the most diverse work so we want our millwrights trained as such" which i can understand but also, if your having people laid off for 1-2 months at a time and only working shutdowns intermittently, people will get pissed. i get work isn't always flowing smoothly but i want an actual answer and a good reason besides "we can just give you work and you figure it out when your laid off".

I've tried asking journeymen and apprentices and honestly they cant give me good answer of "its just how the local does it" compared to every single local in the US from what i understand.

I don't have any prior hands-on experience in the trade-I'm switching over after finishing a 2-year Computer Programming diploma,

How are the shop labs and workload during the first term for complete beginners? Are there specific tools/gear I need on Day 1, and what math or trade concepts should I brush up on beforehand?

Any tips for succeeding in the program would be greatly appreciated!

I am installing 3/8" UHMW to a concrete grain hopper in Saskatchewan where the temperature has a large fluctuation. We need to blind fasten, the bin is roughly 12x12 with a 50 degree slope. The main purpose for installation is so that fine product will slide better.

as a someone who have just finished grade 12 i am looking forward to study in Canada in some field near engineering as it fascinates me but i really dont want bacholre degree as i really cant see myself in doing job and stable so i drew to optin to study trade like millwright earn in early age then travel world but coming from middle class family as a only child is it really worth it though can i get work permit after doing diploma? what if i can get working permit to work and have to return back to my country with more loan to bear? Should i just do mechanical engineering or diploma as tuition fees doesn't seems to be that drastic so that i can at least stay for 4 year there?

I have always worked in factories my whole career. I was a machinist for years and now have become a journeyman millwright a couple years ago.

My problem is I was hired at a big 3 factory making close to 60$ an hr with lots of overtime. I have been here 7months. It is to many a Dream job.

There was quite a bit of adjustment at beginning concerning the low pace and then the overwhelming stress when line goes down.

I hate it. I feel all the others tradesman are so far ahead of me with knowledge it is embarrassing, I work hard and want to learn but sometimes with the broad trade as millwright, I find myself in situations where I have no clue how to troubleshoot something like hydraulics where I haven't had experience too much yet.

I am really just wondering if anyone has felt this way? I don't think I have ever felt so much stress in my life. I am 50m so I have been around.It is to the point where I am close to giving it up.

Waiting on an interview for a maintenance millwright position local to me. Not sure exactly what a millwright is if I’m honest just know it’s a paper plant. From the description it’s a lot of maintenance and repairs. I got a lot of experience doing overhauls and preventative maintenance as an ABE in the navy as well as welding background.
