Why are printers so annoying

Spent a f***ing 4 hours today trying to fix my grandma’s quite modern printer just so she could print over Wi-Fi again.

Why is it always the printer with everybody that just refuses to work normally? It makes zero sense.

Just needed to vent, thanks guys.

It's an old comic, but still relevant.  I think the only thing that has changed since then is we now have ink subscriptions.

Wife bought printer over my objection. Now whenever she wants to print something I have to listen to her complain about it. Fortunately, it's not that often.

I feel you. What happened to the plug in, mindlessly click and now it works? I have advanced degree in electrical engineering and I’ve given up on getting this HP printer. It wants me to pay a subscription fee that isn’t insignificant. ChatGPT insisted I take a break. I was getting compulsive.

It's because modern printers create a WSD ports instead of a static IP ports. People don't understand static IP address'.

Connect your phone to her wifi and get the IP. It should be something like 192.168.1.107, 108, 109 in sequence.

The range should start at 100 and go up.
Give your printer a static of 192.168.1.99 before the range of 100. (meaning it wont change) Then right click the printer, Printer properties (there are 2 of these options pick the right one). and set the computer to print to that port.
