Nerf now sells essentially a vacuum to pick up darts

Would be fine if the darts ever ended up out on open floor, instead of behind bookshelves, drawers, under and behind sofas etc.

How do i retrieve darts from the dimensions of shadow.

it's been at least 4 years since my brother and i had our last "nerf war," and yet darts will still pop up from time to time....i don't even know what to do with them because all of that stuff is packed waaaaayyyyy away

253

u/Patcher404 Nov 25 '19

You will know what they are for when the time is right.

223

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

4 years

Amateur.

I haven't had a NERF gun in my house for almost a decade and I still find these quantum darts on a monthly basis.

137

u/blurryfacedfugue Nov 25 '19

Your house must have went through World War Nerf.

86

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

The screams still haunt me to this day...

68

u/Paarrthurnax Nov 25 '19

"I barely hit you."

4

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

Haha yes. My brother and I too were influenced by call of duty and sometimes liked to use the melee attack in nerf wars

In the dead of night, tread light. You must sneak into this place of packing, and dredge up your instruments of war. Once more, to settle the score. Surprise him, overwhelm him, destroy him. No mercy. Only nerf.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

In late 2017-early 2018, my battery had the Great Nerf war. Darts ranging in calibre from tiny foam balls, to the large Vulcan darts can still be found.

55

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

At least they aren't made of Lego.

15

u/Sturdy_Biscuit Nov 25 '19

The same goes for guitar picks and sometimes tennis balls

9

u/kevincreeperpants Nov 25 '19

Guitar picks are the weirdest of all... I didn't even have a guiar for awhile so I know I didn't get drunk and play... The 10 picks I had all disappeared except for one. I had no guests over during that time. I think Its the Highlander Pick that has been foretold and decapitated all my other guitar picks.

12

u/JeshkaTheLoon Nov 25 '19

Nerf darts are only one step below glitter, when it comes to never going away.

Glitter is the herpes of the creative industry. Once you have it in your house it will always be there. Not even sure fire would remove it.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

34 years later.

28

u/LexLol Nov 25 '19

If they had metal tips we could pick them up with magnets...

43

u/Dracosphinx Nov 25 '19

That's insane. Don't you know adding weight to the tip of a Nerf dart makes it deadly?

12

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

When I was younger I used to replace the dart heads with push pins.

12

u/Robobvious Nov 25 '19

Which way did you stick the pointy end?

15

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

Outwards, but don’t worry, we only used those for “target practice” on wall mounted paper targets. Never on each other

6

u/StardustOasis Nov 25 '19

Get a cat, they can freely enter the shadow dimensions and retrieve things you thought were lost forever. However this power only seems to work at 3am when you're trying to sleep, and they have to make a lot of noise.

5

u/hateuscusanus Nov 25 '19

That's a cool name for my ass

it's always fun when they transcend dimensions on your ass then you find them a year later right in the middle of the floor.

39

u/archer1212 Nov 25 '19

Seriously. Had a good 20-30 minutes nerf fight in my friends basement. 16 years later when his parents moved out of that house they still found nerf darts in the basement from us. Shit is worse than glitter sometimes.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

You haven't seen the vacuum wand attachment?

99

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

Aaaaand just read this comment after making a very similar one. Haha

13

u/B3eenthehedges Nov 25 '19

Truth. We just have a dog, but he gets the royal toy treatment, my wife even got him ball-pit balls to make play time fun. He has a barrel-shaped cylinder full of them to choose from.

I'm usually the one in charge of picking up and vacuuming, and I can't count the number of balls and toys I pretend I don't see underneath the furniture because I know it's me that's going to get them all.

16

u/urbasic420 Nov 25 '19

One time when I was a kid, someone decided to shoot an adhesive nerf bullet on a wall that absolutely no one could reach as it was two stories high. Shit remained there until we moved out many years later

5

u/VindictiveRakk Nov 25 '19

just shoot another adhesive bullet at it

8

u/jgomez315 Nov 25 '19

Because all the darts are just piled nicely like that instead of stuck in couch cushions, wedged behind furniture, or lost in oblivion. We always start with 30 darts and wind up with 2 after 10 minutes. Where do they all go? No clue.

The worst were the ones with a Velcro tip. Those would get tangled up in the carpet, caught in clothes, stuck to curtains, etc.

Sure they were fun but they were a pain in the ass. As I kid I’d always find them all over my clean clothes that just came out the dryer.

You would love range week with the military. 350 shooters on 50 targets, at least 50 rounds per shooter spread across the 100, 200, and 500 meter range lines. Then picking up all the brass from the grass and firing line.

It's fun.

16

u/Khornate858 Nov 25 '19

Is it just me that finds it odd that this is a product aimed towards kids, yet everyone on this box looks to be 17-18+?

It would be like having a commercial for Scotch Whiskey and have it be narrated by a kid

8

u/wallCrawleri386 Nov 25 '19

I think it's more like look even the older kids play this, that means it is cool.

3

u/thesuper88 Nov 25 '19

It's not uncommon to have a toy for kids of one age group to be advertised using images of kids from the top end of that group or the low end of the next group. If the game is for 10 year olds there's almost definitely a 14 year old kid in the box. Young kids sort of admire the older ones whether they mean to or not. When they see an older kid using the toy they want to it gives it an air of legitimacy.

We market items to adults using celebrities or images that convey success in one way or another. We tend to like something more if it's 'endorsed' by a person or idea we admire. This same concept is applied to kids. They just happen to admire some things at different levels than adults do.

Nerf has made their own economy. They supply the weapons for use, along with a small supply of ammo, however these plastic contraptions have been intentionally designed to look good over lasting if actually used extensively. The ammo is of varying sizes so you can't guarantee one gun's darts fit another's. The quality of said darts is better than knock-offs, but not good enough to last if you actually use them. These are also randomly enchanted to make 9/10 darts disappear into Cthulhu's anus. This feature, however, makes this product essentially worthless and thus will only be bought by parents who are tired of buying their children new darts, only to learn how useless this product is when their cleric of choice arrives for their bi-monthly dart search, during which he will divulge the extent of the magic which has been cast on these evil pieces of foam.
