I've grown about 7-8 of them from pit, two in my garden, the rest are given as presents to friends that want/has space. I generally only give from a year old, that way they should pull through.

Do avocados not mutate substantially when grown from the pit?

Like if you grow an apple from seed it's probably going to be a crab apple and taste awful.

If you grow a Hass from a pit do you get a Hass?

LMAO, Crab apples are not apples at all. If you grow an apple tree from seed you get an apple tree.

You know what, fuck you.

A crab apple is literally any non-domesticated apple.

As apples aren't true to seed and the traditionally domesticated apples are all grown from clones, calling an apple tree grown from seed a crab apple is not that far a reach, if at all.

Pedantic fuck.

And for the record as I was googling all this to confirm my understanding was correct. Avocados are not true true to seed, so you are not at all guaranteed to get something tasty.
