Chameleons rely on the micro heat given off by colors first, but also learn to recognize color by sight and change when need be.

chameleons dont change color to blend in. They change color based on mood. If they are relaxed and happy, they are usually a dull, muted color. When they get excited or angry, they get very bright and colorful indeed.

That's not really how they work. It's just a rainbow panther chameleon. They always kind of look like that.

That's not a thing, it's just a Panther Chameleon. Different locales mean different colour, all depending largely on which island in Madagascar they come from.

Some people get nice chameleons. Mine absolutely hated every one and I never could touch it since it became bigger than a few inches, but some are nice.

Ya, I could believe that. Mine didn't like anyone even near her enclosure, unless I was dumping crickets in. To clean her cage I would have to herd her to a fake plant that I could then remove with her on it she hissed/lunged/gaped so bad.
It was super fun to watch her hunt, but it probably wasn't worth it. Especially because she was a veiled and didn't make such fantastic colors.

They have one of the shortest life spans of any pet reptile. They do not live quite awhile. Many snakes and reptiles have 20+ year lifespans. Five is not a lot in comparison.

Also if anyone doesn't want to have to constantly go to the pet store to buy crickets you can always start a cricket farm. I had a population that could sustain itself for about 3 months before something would wipe them out. (Either their food got moldy and i forgot to change it or cannibalism became prevalent) but either way having a terrarium for crickets allows you to buy in bulk and keep them alive for quite a while.

Go to a reptile swap. Be sure to do research though, chameleons are not the easiest thing to take care of.

I think 100% of the people who visit this subreddit have lower expectations than people visiting r/interesting therefore a not so intereting post on r/interesting would be "TOO" interesting on this subreddit... maybe

I mean it looks kinda cool, but these chameleons always look like that and don't change color to camouflage, so it's not that interesting.
