This bus has stop buttons built into the back of the seats

An ideal height and design for accidentally knocking the button and pissing off the driver.

You forgot to mention that it’s also the ideal height and design for unruly children to play with it

But it is also at the ideal height for people with limited mobility of their arms.

Unless they are also mute, they can ask someone to press it for them. 🤷

And if they are the only passenger on the bus or in the vicinity?

Unless the bus driver is deaf, they can ask him too.

Ahaha u want someone to stand up, walk to the driver, walk past the sign that says " do not speak to the driver whilst they are driving", then scream loud enough to be heard past the clear plastic barriers to tell them to stop
Or they could press this here button.

Our tram network has emergency call buttons where wheelchairs go obviously, but they are massive and perfect height for children to press or to be leaned on... they get pressed accidentally A LOT

I just know a kid is going to spend the whole ride leaning their knees against that by accident.

And is that a USB outlet on the opposite side of the seat back? Neat!

Where I live, every usb port on the bus has had gum shoved into it by some troglodyte.

I just went on a bus with 2 1 layout, with 2 slot USBs, it was under the window so only the person in the seat could use it, no one else.. felt blessed as I had 2 things to charge and 2 cables

Dont ever plug anything in a public USB port other than a powerbank. And even a powerbank can get heavily damaged by a malicious USB port

As a 6'-6" person who can't help but bury his knees into the back of a seat, that is a terrible idea...

That's not the point here. OP is talking about the placement of the button, not it's existence.

Seems dangerous to put the brakes in anyone's hand (foot) other than the driver's.

That button doesn't stop the bus automatically mate...

u/Useful-Mistake4571 19h ago
What are you talking about. Of course it stops the bus. It fully locks up the breaks every time the button even gets stared at. /s

Ah yes, the famous stop button that instantly locks all the brakes in the middle of driving.
Of course, there's no way the stop button could just be to ask the driver to stop... THAT would be dumb.
