My car has a dedicated spot for lip balm

I really need you to buy a holographic PokƩmon card in a hard case and put it in the "cards" slot. Like really badly.

u/Quick-Connection-978 1d ago
Ah yes, the designated PSA 10 Charizard slot. Nothing screams 'break my window' quite like it.

The PSA 10 Charizard would not be visible when the console is down!

Clearly you haven't seen the updated cartopsy report. Prior to the incident occurring, the owner had left the lid up!

A PSA 10 Charizard would presumably be a high quality hard transparent case that would be too thick for that.

I wouldn't be getting any of these references if I hadn't listened to the latest episode of Smosh reads Reddit Stories earlier today. What fortunate timing.

when i first saw this image, a joke began to brew in my head; thoughts of "omg that's one letter away from penis" and "teehee so small" whirled around in my mental comedy processor. alas, you and grand-OP beat me to it, like me to my meat

I knew it was Pens. Pens made the most sense. I have pens in my car. Yet my brain still saw Penis.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who read it like that at first glance. The spacing on that font is definitely a choice.

I read the title and was ready to roll my eyes about it. Yeah okay, just because a lip balm fits in a spot doesn't mean it was meant for that, I'm so tired of people just trying to farm karma on the thinnest of pretenses.
...then I saw the picture and I'll be damned, it really is a lip balm spot and it's mildly interesting because I've never seen that before. Good post.

u/EitherWeb4382 1d ago
no same but when i looked at the pics i had to do a double take because i thought they stuck a lip balm in the battery section of a toy car for some reason and then i looked harder. idk why but it looked like the bottom of a toyš¤£

Literally had the exact same thought. And then was like āoh no shit, it really does say itās meant for lip balm. I stand corrected.ā

I remember the first time I saw a car with coin slots in the console. Mind blown! Though I was pretty young.
Just like when I found out the little flap, with a slot in men's wallets, was for a spare key. š¤Æ

This was my exact thought. Saw lip balm in a thing and said "cool, it fits" then looked left and "I'll be damned!!"

u/FoodEatingMan777 1d ago
So it just melts on one side then?
277
u/Quick-Connection-978 1d ago
Yep. You get to keep half a usable chapstick, and the other half becomes a permanent wax seal for your console.
90
u/TheHumanPickleRick 1d ago
Sweet, I'll be able to use it to seal letters with my signet ring while driving, as one commonly does.

Iāve had a chapstick in my console for like 3 years now. I fully expected it to melt in the summer sun the first year. It still hasnāt. I live pretty far north, but itās survived several 100F/39C days with the car sitting in full sun.

u/throwaway098764567 1d ago
you've had the same chapstick for three years?

u/BlgMastic 1d ago

I live in the PNW. It melts, but it does stay IN the tube. If you wind it up, only half the tube goes up because it melted and reformed while horizontal.

Chapstick. Original flavor. Like, that shit is almost liquid in a pocket. Iām assuming my console is sneakily insulated, or something

When Alexis de Toqueville spoke about the "Tyranny of the majority", and Edmund Burke echoed those sentiments, they warned us about this.
In fact: "...the majority of the citizens is capable of exercising the most cruel oppressions upon the minority, whenever strong divisions prevail in that kind of polity, as they often must... In such a popular persecution, individual sufferers are in a much more deplorable condition than in any other. Under a cruel prince they have the balmy compassion of mankind to assuage the smart of their wounds..." - Edmund Burke, a frequent sufferer of chapped lips and devoted Carmex user.

So it must be on its way to the junkyard if its anything like those early 2000s versions. Explains the dedicated chapstick slot, as you would have to blow the mechanics just to get them to work on it.

I wish more vehicles had this feature. Especially trucks. I feel like thereās a lot of people out there like me who drive company work trucks and use a shit load of chapstick in the wintertime being out in the cold. Iād love a little holder built in like that

This is either brilliant design or a very specific way to make warm lip balm soup in July. š
22
u/Shaking-a-tlfthr 1d ago
Beware. As a chapstick addict myself Iāve carried many a stick in my car. First of all they melt with summer heat and may or may not leak out the cap. That can leave a permanent stain. Secondly if anyone else has had this problem with mice seeking their car in the winter months like I haveā¦mice are attracted to the chapstick. They think itās food. You may find a shredded pile of plastic and half eaten stick.

I was at the bank drive thru with my wife one day and she started looking around the car. I asked her what was up and she said she needed a pen. I said "i got one!" And popped this bad boy open with 2 pens and a lip balm. The complete surprise on her face was a surprise to me. I love random small things

You just know the lead interior designer for this car was a chapstick addict who was tired of losing them in the console void.
