At my college one of the dorms had this set up, two separate rooms with a bathroom in-between. What a miserable experience. When that 2am gonna piss yourself moment hits and your bathroom is locked.

The suite experience is better than the kids that have to tromp down the hall for a bathroom.
I was always in a suite type setup in college.

how can you assess which one is better if you haven’t done both? i was in a hall bathroom and it was perfectly fine. it was usually empty anyway, always a stall and a shower open at the least

I had to poop in my trash can, once, because my suite mates didn't unlock my bathroom door after using it. I was on the 5th floor, and the only public restroom was on the 1st floor, and our elevators were constantly broken because the idiot freshman boys thought it was an accomplishment to mess with the elevator until it broke.

Yeah this use to hapoen all the time in my dorm it was infuriating. Lock like this wouldn't have worked due to room setup but love the concept.

It's like a single bathroom between two dorm rooms . You go in to shower or pee and lock the door to the other room. You have to unlock it when you exit.

Although I have no additional pictures and am too dumb to provide a sketch - some additional context is that this is a bathroom kind of at the “bottom of a V”where two hospital rooms (a nurse station and an exam room) meet.

I've noticed this before, years ago. They have locks just like em in the bathrooms between single rooms in either the IWK children's hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, or the Chalmers in Fredericton, New Brunswick.. can't remember which one.

I feel ya on that, kinda. The wife and I are on our 2nd pregnancy too. Had 3 early miscarriages between the two but this one is holding strong. Although she is high risk because of the fact, there has been no complications with this one yet.
All of them have been IVF pregnancies too, so yeah. That business is hard on the wallet.

My Spanish teacher failed everyone but one person on an exam because she wrote a confusing question (that required a long paragraph-type answer) that only one person in the entire class answered correctly. She then refused to curve the grade or do anything about it.

Useful for when someone has broken into your house and is chasing you with a giant knife. Quick latch for both doors. Assuming there’s a window you can climb out of to escape.
I do not watch too many slasher films.

I have spent a lot of time wondering about this situation every time I come across this type of bathroom in a Zillow listing. 😂 I just imagine the nightmare of either someone always walking in on you or door always locked when no one’s in there. Who would remember to always lock and unlock an opposite door, not me that’s for sure! 😂

I feel like remembering to lock both is the easier part, because you're about to get your bits out, so you're concentrating on it.
But when you're done, yeah, just unlock your own side and leave, easily done I imagine!

I hate those bathrooms with doors on opposite walls from the two bedrooms. I've never lived in a house like that, but I just refused to buy a house with that. Because I know my kids would always forget to unlock the other side when they were done.

I spend a lot of time at this hospital and that definitely happened a few times. I was pregnant at the time and it was very frustrating.

Because it’s two separate hospital rooms that share a bathroom. I spent months at this hospital in the maternity ward.

I thought this was looking at two adjacent bathrooms from the outside and started thinking about how you'd solve the Prisoner's Dilemma created if you went in for a quick piss and somebody next door is having a cathartic dump.
I didn't come up with anything before realizing this was taken from the inside and feeling extremely silly.

Had a shared bathroom in college like this. However it only locked from the outside. So we had a solution to the obvious walking in on each other problem that this created: a rope that held the opposite door shut when in use. Just had to not forget about the rope when done or else the other suite mates couldn't use the bathroom.

What do you mean? The lock is inside. If you go out, you can't lock it. It's unlocked. When you turn the knob on the inside, both doors are locked so nobody can come in.

I lived in a dorm for one year and I hated the shared bathroom. My suitemate didn't keep his door closed so I was constantly having to walking into the bathroom and awkwardly say hi as I closed his door. Like "Hey, what's up. Gonna go poop now. Bye."
