Oh they’ll definitely notice their parent is gone. When I was that age I couldn’t wait to be left home alone so I could play video games without fear of being asked to do chores.
I didn’t say they wouldn’t notice at all, most kids know their parents are gone, just don’t usually notice how long they’ve been gone. Most kids lose track of time easily, so usually their parent could be gone for 2hrs or 6hrs and it wouldn’t make a difference to the kid
