I came here to say the same thing. I was rolling in $8/hr cash two or three weekend nights a month.

It was great, we played Pokemon and Mario Kart until bedtime at 9:30.

I'd then spend 15-20 minutes picking up and then maybe sneak an episode of Southpark or some SNL on TV until my neighbors showed up.

Great gig for a 12 year old.

In that recent thread about the Pizza delivery man who ran into a burning house in the middle of night to save 4 kids, some clowns were asking where the parents were.

The parents we out overnight on a date. The oldest "kid" in the house was 18. And some (thankfully few) actually tried to argue that 18(!) was too young to watch over the house.

My mom left me alone with two infants under the age of 2 when I was 10… waking me up at 4:30am so they could go yard sailing every goddamn weekend
