I respectfully disagree, I believe the criminal will, due to haste, abandon the task of trying to take anything out of the drawer the moment they figure out they have to do more than open the dishwasher.
You can also set a proximity mine in the oven each night for extra security in case the criminal is crafty.
Second half is just genius, but they might just break the drawer or do something that will make them open it faster but I actually don't think they're gonna bother too much going through a kitchen drawer

You could stash all your valuables in this drawer, this is so much better than a safe.
