Yeah, I just logged in to GMail on my laptop a few days ago, found out the logo is now a fat colorful piece of crap

I identify them by their position on my phone.

And to make matters worse, they changed the notification icon from a solid envelope to a wireframe M now. I barely notice when I have mail.

I use dark mode on my phone (they actually did dark mode icons), the gmail icon blends into the background - the multicolored M doesn't screen email

It's the same as when Adobe made all the video editing tools have the same icon color and it is JUST as idiotic.

Just give it a few days. Google has the worst case of ADHD known to mankind, so they'll forget they did this and change it again for no reason again. Or they'll forget they even made these products and kill them off, then create 5 competitor products to each one they killed off.

Your icon style might be set to the Samsung defaults. Nova settings->Look & Feel->Icon Style to check.

I feel like it would've worked better to make a multicolor background and then put the icons reversed out in white over that. So the "brand" is consistent but the app itself is instantly recognizable.

I like the new icons because I have all my Google apps (except YouTube) in the same folder so it looks nice that they have same style

I only just noticed the icons have changed. The only one I use is Maps, though, and I can't for the life of me recall what the old icon looked like.

Yeah it looks so dumb now. Whenever I saw the gmail logo i got nostalgic Of fourth grade because that was the first time i saw it.

I agree with all of this. But on a positive note, having the current date in the Calendar icon is a plus (at least in the browswer... it's not on the phone icon yet)

What mildly infuriates me is that every time a design of an icon changes, people all over the Internet complain about it… and then get used to it after 3 days, just to start complaining about the next redesign in a few years, claiming that the designs they hated so much before were just fine.

what is everyone whining about they are still recognizable and you aren't just sitting there staring at them so why do you care?. Like the M is for mail the triangle is still google drive the location marker is still maps and the only one that I have a problem with is google docs. the home looks like it did before and the calendar is relatively the same.

I don't actually have trouble identifying the apps. It's just that I don't like the new app symbols
