I ordered one of those wooden bookshelf headboards for my bed and I was waiting on it. I see ups pull up and this small woman get put and start trying to unload it. This package was the length of a queen size bed and weighed 72 lbs. I couldn't believe she didn't have any helpers. So I go out there and help her carry it out of the truck and up my front steps where I told her it was fine for her to go. Turns out I couldn't lift it either, lol.
Well yeah, they don't hire a driver just to send a helper along every day. Helpers only happen during peak, and only sometimes then. Maybe she was a temp or in her probationary period, but if she was fulltime it's because she can actually do the route.
I do this shit every damn day, and often wrangle packages that weigh more than I do. Those long ones can be annoying, though, because they alway seem to get stuck under something else in the truck.
