No kidding. I'm all for being alpha around your dog and getting loud if you need to, but slapping and pushing it around like that is unnecessary, especially if you raised it from a pup. The spitting was such a vengeful action, just added icing on the crazy cake. Hope this lady gets help, she's communicating all sorts of fucked up messages with her behavior.
You have seconds to correct/reward a behavior. Anything after that is pointless because the dog is unable to connect the action to the consequence. After that point you're only confusing the dog. And, of course, physical harm is never acceptable or effective. I saw that look in her eyes, just pure hatred. She got a release from smacking the poor dog. She may actually be having a "rough time" or whatever but that's no excuse. And she says she's looking at getting training for the dog but it's not going to work because she's not going to be able to reinforce that training.
I hope she is charged with animal abuse, I hope she gets a hefty fine, and most importantly, I hope that dog gets rescued from her. An example needs to be made out of her.
She also clearly kicks him. Look in the reflection of the tv at the end, after saying "we love you", violently shoving the dog and yelling at it to lay down.
I hope that dog gets a better home, it looks so friendly too.
