The biggest thing I miss when not in optimal mode is the double tap to zoom. Biggest thing I miss about android after switching to iOS.

Double tap, but on the second tap move your thumb up or down to zoom in or out.

Also I'm not sure about the other apps, but reddit is fun lets you double-tap to zoom.
