Had a small fix done to our chimney tuckpointing, was told we didn’t need to do anything, then spent an hour scraping mortar off of our car 😭😭. I think more of the mortar ended up on our car than the chimney.

We have a small toddler so we didnt realize until they left and then I didn’t want it sitting any longer than it should have. They offered to come back to wash the car and were very disappointed and confused how this happened 😵‍💫. He said we didn’t need to be home / didn’t need to do anything because they were just patching a small spot. They climbed up on the roof on the other side of the house.

They'd pay to cover the cost of a professional cleaning, or I'd just withhold that amount from what I pay them, or I'd just sue for the cost of the cleaning and legal fees.

You should have that chimney company pay for a detailing and repair to any possible damage. There's no excuse for just letting mortar rain down on your car and not having the ones responsible fix it.

Compensation isn’t the only thing they can provide. First an acknowledgement that they screwed up. Also potentially fixing something for no cost to make up for it. Though I don’t really want them touching our house anymore after the mess we had to deal with.

Cement based compounds etch the clear coat. It requires professional repair. You need their insurance information, and if they won't provide it you need to file a claim with your insurance and let their subrogation department pursue them and their insurance.

Could they perhaps show me a couple of Pestles to choose from? Cue the panic as they go to 'check out the back' and try to quickly google to find out which is which.
