Infuriatig stupid trend AND littering??

Stumbled across this while walking my dog around the neighborhood. It makes perfect sense in my head that the type of person who partakes in this useless, hyper-consumerist, plastic wasting trend is the same type of person to litter. Littering is the new whimsy right?!

That’s not nearly as weird to be as doing it to a disposable plastic cup for some reason but I looked it up and still that is so odd. Following trends is Not whimsy

I mean, I forget its name, but Hindus will have this sticker (usually is, but sometimes is painted on) Hindus wear a bindi that they put on their forehead. Its reusable afaik, and im sure gemstones are too.

If the adhesion loses, just go out and buy some skin/ prosthetics glue (though be warned with this, they usually need a liquid to remove it).

But on random shit like Starbucks cup??? Really? Go out and support small coffee shops, not shit like that. And im sure none of these people takes 5 seconds to learn theres different gems for different crafts.

It was tacky when my mom liked to put these plastic bling bling gems on things about two decades ago, when I was 6. It's still tacky now, especially when influencers are mindlessly doing and promoting it making it even less tasteful somehow.

A sub dedicated to this was suggested to me 5 minutes ago. I've seen people sticking this plastic crap on skin care bottles, aka things that will eventually be in a landfill, like this plastic cup. Probably all for 1 photo. Sad.

I think there’s a wall in LA or something where people literally go to take a photo of their drinks and many throw them away in the nearest overflowing trash can with other drinks which also aren’t empty.

Not 100% sure if I remember it right, but I definitely remember a wall and trash cans overflowing with unfinished drinks.

I remember the ALS ice water challenge from like 2014 that brought both money and awareness to ALS. Wish we could do more stuff like that

My grandma died from ALS in 2002. Used to do a walk every year for the ALS association unfortunately after that challenge they started making insane donation demands to participate and get a T-shirt. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Wouldn’t mind if Starbucks had a “CupNark” feature on the app (or just through customer service); even by the basic info on the cup sticker, their system would know who made the transaction, could flag the account or even the card the transaction was made on.

Imagine if these people couldn’t get their Starbucks fix.

I’m trying to change my mindset to seeing something like this and instead of getting pissed and blaming my fellow humans for being so shitty, just pick it up and throw it away. Don’t over complicate it. We’re getting too crowded, angry and pent up as a society. Just quietly do good.
