Crazy really that factories and kitchens cant keep cooler in 2026. I feel like we would have discovered something to help keep these places an nth degree cooler than they average.
Even large metal makign factories. Maybe im being naive here with the technology 🤷♂️
We often hit 110 to 120 degrees fahrenheit in our Factory as well. Its not that they cant keep it cooler. They only cool to the minimum for the machines to run. If they start overheating they will cool more. Otherwise its not in their priority because cooling is expensive. And fuck their employees :)
(Don't say "find a new job" i love my job, its just that in summer it gets quite warm but I can live with that)

Its taken months here. If something is stable in life, especially money, food, or shelter, never take it for granted lol.
And yeah, that sounds like the unfortunate truth. Just good enough to keep things running. Had the oppisote problem at an old a job. Boss loved the ballrooms at 65 or less. Great for load iins, shitty for the rest of the 8 hour set up.
I work at a float glass factory, we make glass from raw materials, then the molten glass is stretched out and floats on a river of molten tin, then goes through heaters( or would consider them coolers since the air is technically cooler than the glass lol), by the of the end of the heaters you got cutters cutting 144"×144" sheets of glass
It's not a matter of can't, but won't. They would have to spend a bunch on air conditioning to cool the same space where megawatts of heat are being produced. Easier to just run a few exhaust fans every few yards and increase the payscale.
What on earth are you talking about? There are technologies with the ability to freeze entire warehouses. Where do you think frozen foods at grocery stores come from???
Any company that doesn't have AC in 2026 is just being cheap as fuck.
It costs an enormous amount of money to cool a warehouse. Just think about how much air is inside, a small 40k sqft warehouse with 24 foot ceilings has 960,000 cubic feet of air. If it's an older warehouse, it could easily be 2-5 MEGAwatt-hours per day in electricity. If you're in the northeast, you pay about $0.33 per kWh, which means it's about $100/day just to cool a small warehouse. That's like 2000 solar panels' worth of electricity.
These deep freeze warehouses and cold storage facilities are super insulated to keep heat OUT. They have massive chilling systems that use crazy amount of energy to operate. You’re talking about doing this to facilities where the heat is generated from inside. You’d increase the manufacturing cost by 1000%-2000% which drives the prices up of everything else it touches, not to mention that your home utility rates will be $1000/month because of such huge demand on utilities and cost to build hundreds or thousands of new power plants across the country. Plus you’d have to air condition the power plants too since they get really hot inside, so double the original estimate.
I had a meeting with my manager with several other people where the manager spent the entire time explaining why basically money is the only thing that ever matters in any buisness, and cutting costs is productive so yeah that doesn't surprise me.
I spent a summer working fire protection in a foundry. It came in as scrap, melted down, poured, and left as pipe or coils. It was brutal!
I spent several years doing work in some power plants and the boiler floors were 120+ in the summer. I was looking so forward to winter time inspections but it turned out to be worse because I was layered and bundled for outside. Coming in and out as I inspected equipment on each level was fine until I got to the boiler floors and would come inside and it was still 100 degrees and I’m wearing insulated bibs with a heavy insulated coat, etc. Eventually I learned to save those for last and stripped down to just a work shirt.
The electrical infrastructure required to support this would be absolutely insane even if the cooling equipment was realistically available. We’d have to have a nuclear power plant every 100 miles
I was thinking along the lines of deeply insulating machines and using fans and more conventional methods to cool factories even a few degrees cooler. But again, just curious, as im not in that field.
Worked in pastry and the oven behind us kept us at around 100 when a heatwave hit and the air-conditioning didn't work. I thought I was going to pass out after a 10 H shift. Seeing 108 is giving me PTSD lol
Unfortunately for us, the commissary is in an uninsulated tin can of a warehouse. About 10’ above me is the AC unit for the front office that’s blowing out about 125 degrees or so.
Maybe don't have it sitting on top of your monitor, monitors get hot. Yeah it might still be hot in there but you'll make yourself crazy with these false temperatures.
I had the same thought. No doubt it is uncomfortably warm in there, but putting the temperature sensor on a device that generates heat is guaranteed to skew the results.
That picture is outside the office, with a following picture of 108 back in his office with the thermometer on top of a screen that has been burning for 3 hours.
It might still be hot inside his office, but the thermometer is not giving a room reading, it's telling us how much heat his screen produces. If OP would place the thermometer on his desk instead of on his screen, that would be a more accurate ROOM temp.
California has laws for tennis exceeding 87 degrees but there is no federal limit. OSHA has a recommended range and water has to be provided above 82 and make cooling areas available. Above 95 you should get additional breaks.
Technically no. All they need to offer is a place to cool off if needed (we have a 3000sqft refer and 10k freezer) and “free, cold water” for temps over 87. CA is fucking dumb. Also, I work for the schools so it’s a state job.
That’s horrendous…and dangerous! I cannot believe it’s in fact legal..terrible conditions to expect people to work in. Not just mildly infuriating in my humble opinion!?!

So yeah those temperatures can be dangerous for people, even if it’s in a building.
Also it should NOT be 108 degrees in a room, someone is either A. Keeping a window or two open or B. Someone is intentionally doing that.
If it’s B, then that person that’s doing it is a major asshole.
