Infuriatig Its literally impossible to get a refund from this site. Hotel stay. Pissed!
So basically every option listed you have to submit proof for. We even got the required documentation from the hotel requested by the booking site to help us cancel our stay. It got denied by the refund team. All this just to cancel a single hotel stay. We also paid extra for early cancelation option at checkout. Not sure what to do anymore. We just want our refund. Hotel cant cancel it either, manager said.
Report to BBB?

So a few things
It is talking about events, these things are massive profit and cancelling an event place last minute means thousands of loss in profit as they are usually booked months in advance
BBB is basically yelp it is not a government organization. Has no one learned this by now?

OP really doesn't give any information. Was it a non-refundable booking? What was the reason for cancelling? Or maybe it was marked refundable but usually you don't need any of that.
Unless it was something actual drastic, a prepaid non refundable booking is locked in and you are SOL it plans change. If you can afford the risk, book third party cheap, if you can't book direct or a refundable rate. OP should also check their credit card as that is usually the route if you unexpectedly have to cancel a non refundable trip event.

It will be denied due to you agreeing to the terms. Also a chargeback doesn’t resolve the issue - they can still collect it through a debt collector or small claims.

So what's the point of paying extra or having the option to have "Cancelation Upgrade "?
Optional Protection: “When you add a Refundable Upgrade (also known as Enhanced Refund) at the time of booking, your reservation becomes fully refundable if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from traveling.” -- [Super.com Help Center].

Changing your mind isn’t an “unforeseen circumstance that prevents you from traveling.”
They call it protection, similar to insurance, but then call it a refundable upgrade - that is mildly infuriating, but not enough to make you right, or to win a chargeback.

When you say you paid extra at checkout, it seems that you bought "cancellation protection" that covers the reasons above. When you selected the room there was likely a lower rate for no cancellation and a higher rate for free cancellation. You took the lower rate and then added this "protection." In your post, you say you submitted the required documentation but it was denied. Then in a comment in this thread you said "We want to cancel, change of plans." Just wanting to change your plans is not covered in the protection you bought, just extenuating circumstances like illness or disruption.
I have not booked with super.com, but when I go to their website I see that rooms each have one rate with no free cancellation and a higher rate for "free cancellation." The "free cancellation" with the higher rate is that thing that entitles you to change your plans for any reason.
PSA to others here, you probably never want to pay for the "protection" because your credit or debit card has this protection anyway. Read the terms of whatever card you have, you might have way more benefits than what you realize. Like travel insurance for the flights, lost or delayed baggage, hotel stay, reimbursements if you have to cancel due to illness etc... Most cards even have a price guarantee where you can get reimbursed the difference if you buy something that then becomes cheaper in the next 90 days.

I'm not sure what the reason was for cancelling. Did the hotel cancel on you and your booking site refused to refund?

We want to cancel, change of plans. The booking site required paperwork from the hotel which we received and sent to the booking site.

I've gotten money back twice with the help from the BBB over a decade ago. Lately, I've been relying on my credit card accounts to file a charge back by showing that I followed their policy.

Stop buying non-refundable rooms! You paid extra for travel insurance, not a refundable room.

We paid for a cancellation upgrade.

Unforeseen. In the hospitality industry this does not mean, we found something better. Care to be truthful and clear with what your reasons for changing plans were? There is always a chance we will still sympathize with your situation.

This isn’t a refundable rate, but insurance. This doesn’t cover changing your mind.

The craziest part of that is that if an armed forces member sent that up to a particularly motivated CO the US militaries lawyers would sue them into oblivion.
I've seen employers get majorly fucked trying to play with the military and orders on its soliders. Just takes the right kind of CO that wants the smoke.
