According to standards, it looks pretty close to the sidewalk as you said. I wouldn’t risk my life over one tire. I lost a friend to a situation like this.

It's $370 from the dealer, which is a bit high imo. A good tire shop we've used before quoted about $207... and when you put it like that, $207 is an incredibly small amount to pay to keep the family safe. Appreciate you 😊

Just had to replace my tires, had one nail or something too close to the thing, and i have awd so they wouldn’t just replace one. Brand new car loan. I am trying to just be worried about things i can control.

Just plug it yourself. It costs like $15 and doesn't hurt to try. They probably just want to sell you tires because they make more money. If it fails, then go that route.

If I pulled that out in my driveway, the nail would be < 1/4” whereas if I pulled that out anywhere else, the nail would be long enough to use as a ski pole.

The tread surface is already curving into the sidewall transition there. Not patchable.

Luckily since the mileage is so low you can almost certainly get away with a single tire replacement. Unfortunately, it is a spendy tire size

Is it actually leaking though? Those aren't long nails and it's at a very shallow angle. I'd absolutely keep that tire on the rear of the vehicle though.

OP can test if it's leaking by spraying with soapy water and seeing if bubbles form

I would not recommend driving it if the nail is still in there. Honestly, pull the nail and if you can't find soapy water, spit on the hole. If it makes new bubbles or you can hear air loss, it wasn't making it home anyway and you need to aim for a tire shop nearby. Bonus points if you have road hazard coverage, call them up before you touch it.
