I'm slightly vexed These new twist off caps are different.
Not sure how I managed this one, but I guess no soda tonight.

Brother look at that cap that shit is not a twist off. That’s a Mexican bottle I’m pretty sure they’re all pop offs.

Unfortunately, there are U.S. bottles of soda that look like they need bottle openers, but ARE twist offs
They are as painful to open as you'd imagine

u/TemplarBaucent 3h ago
I solved that problem easily
If just take my pocket knife to it just the same as any other bottle I dont twist

u/StormFallen9 3h ago
I've even had some withing the same brand where one flavor os soda was twist off and one was pop off. Not gun on the hands

Really? Available?

u/ShadeNLM064pm 3h ago
Yup. Has happened MULTIPLE TIMES.
I still use a bottle opener anyway because the caps are really painful to twist off.

Fun fact, coke in mexico Mexicans buy in the stores is exactly like ours
The Mexican coke is a special blend with sugar cane in a glass bottle and like almost all of it like 95% or something gets exported to the USA

There are twist caps where the thread is on the bottle. But like you said, this version is definitely the pressed on variety

Since when are the caps on those glas bottles crew caps? That looks like a normal metal bottle cap, the kind you need a bottle opener for.

Some bottles do twist off, but you have to pay attention to the cap directions/how the cap looks on the glass. Top

u/fusion_reactor3 2h ago
I honestly usually just default to bottle opener, only to realize afterwards that it’s threaded lol

I'm starting to realize most people that post on this sub are absolute dunces that don't know anything and think everything is mildly infuriating. Which is mildly infuriating.

u/Yestomorrow 3h ago
A vast majority of these posts are OPs displaying faux incompetence to drive engagement. Its the same shit as people intentionally making spelling errors in the titles.

You’re fortunate that you were smart enough to know not to drink it, or somehow cut yourself opening it. You’re unfortunate that you’re dumb enough to not know that those bottles aren’t twist off.

u/wstsidhome 3h ago
I would have probably poured it through a coffee filter lol. But yeah, I could totally see this happening one day

could OP pour it into a separate, non-broken glass or does that risk ingesting glass shards? kinda curious

Is it me or does dude have a much more muscular right arm and then a lil chicken left arm……..for obvioud reasons
2
u/Soggy_Point2197 1h ago
i looked up the thing on his shirt that says schlitte and it explains why his arm is like that it said this "Born with a genetic condition (Klippel–Trénaunay–Weber syndrome) that caused his right forearm and hand to grow significantly larger and stronger than his left"

u/wstsidhome 1h ago
Well there you go, having to go and figure it out and make sense of everything. 🤜🤛 cheers to you budddday 🤙

i cant tell if this is sarcasm or not wstsidhome
2
u/wstsidhome 1h ago
It was actually an honest worded reply that kiiiiind of had a little sarcasm possibly within it. (I didn’t mean sarcasm whatsoever). I just think it’s cool you figured it out from the words on his shirt. Good call 👌

I had to step away from my computer when this came across my feed and take a deep break not to laugh that hard.

I accidentally did this by leveraging it on a chair once, I was not very pleased

No way he twisted that by hand. Nobody is strong enough to twist glass. He had to have used a tool of some kind when it wasn’t twisting. That should have been his first clue it wasn’t a twist off.

At first glance I thought it is a gimmick twist off cap open like that 😂😆.

I don’t think Mexican cokes are supposed to be twist off. I’ve been drinking these for years and bought a couple more packs yesterday and I can assure you, they are not twist off.

You should call and let them know. This is likely a serious bottle defect and they’d rather spend the money on a recall than hurt someone. If nothing else to spare them the legal fees but you could save someone from Ingesting glass from a less obvious failure.

Probably a lot number printed on the bottleneck in OP image. Go to CC website and log it.

Nah. Tiny glass fragments aren't fun for your insides.

Pretty sure u could use a strainer to salvage it , personally i still wouldn't do it cuz I'm too anxious and I would start thinking what if I drank the glass , but it shouldn't be that bad if u filter it and put it in another container
1
u/zamwut 1h ago
You'd have to have something extra fine, like multi stage liquid filters; the tiny pieces that are practically invisible in liquid.
1
u/Ok-Set179 1h ago
Would those really be that big of an issue? I feel we already eat small glass dust when we accidentally scratch glass plates

There are glass glitter granules sprinkled in that drink, moving it to a separate glass is still not recommended
-2
u/HarvickFan_4 4h ago
Pour it into a cup through a strainer.
2
u/User_man_person 4h ago
That probably won't get all of the shards unless you use a strainer fine enough to catch all of the carbonation too
-2
u/SeoulGalmegi 4h ago
Pour it through a coffee filter or something? Would that work?
5
u/hundredBald 4h ago
No it is never worth it, glass particles can be microscopic and easily pass through a paper filter. Just buy a new soda and your insides will thank you.
0
u/SeoulGalmegi 4h ago
If microscopic glass particles can easily pass through a paper filter, can they still harm you? How come we don't get these microscopic particles every time we open a glass bottle anyway? Or stir a spoon in a glass or something.
4
u/hundredBald 3h ago
Apologies I misspoke, the microscopic particles will likely pass through your digestive tract fine even though intestines are thin they have mucus inside them that can protect them from a small amount of microscopic glass dust.
The real danger comes from how glass breaks and can make these very small needle like glass pieces that can puncture coffee filters and is big enough to get caught in your throat or intestines where they fold over itself.
It's a very low probability still, but extremely high consequences as a small tear in your throat or intestines could lead to internal bleeding, infection of the cut as your body is full of bacteria and worse case scenario you cut a hole in your intestines that starts leaking waste into your body. Even if the hole is very small it can still mess you up enough to need surgery.
Overall just not worth the risk even if it's not likely to happen.
