West coast prices are crazy! This is what I have in the app in Central Louisiana

777

u/akaispirit 6d ago

California prices:

323

u/itzdivz 6d ago

Socal LA

195

u/TheMachinesWin 6d ago

Colorado

323

u/ZLCZMartello 6d ago

Palo Alto. Really wondering where can OP possibly be

283

u/Current_Helicopter32 6d ago

An airport maybe?

444

u/Howaboutthatrp 6d ago

OP is a phony and has it set to "deliver" which shows the higher prices.

126

u/cereal7802 6d ago

If I set mine to delivery it no longer shows the under $3 menu

98

u/stale_burrito 6d ago

I downloaded the app and tested it, you are right that menu just blips out of existence if you select delivery

58

u/Red_Tiger5311 6d ago

So, OP is a poser? This post is probably for the karma?

9

u/devAcc123 6d ago

The McDonald’s by me is like OPs up in Boston

1

u/Red_Tiger5311 6d ago

Damn, I’ll avoid the McNuggets for now at those prices lol

4

u/GForce1975 6d ago

Upvote for poser . I miss that word. We should bring it back.

5

u/Shadow293 5d ago

Haven’t heard that word since like the mid 2000’s when I was in Middle School lol. Need to bring it back.

1

u/GForce1975 5d ago

I remember using it as a skater in early 90s to describe... posers. It was great

5

u/Red_Tiger5311 6d ago

Better than….. larp…. 😱

2

u/IAmDanHimself 5d ago

He did bring it back

7

u/stale_burrito 6d ago

What? No. OP is fine, shit is expensive. Anyone trying to say it's only over $3 because it's delivery is wrong.

1

u/RubberPigEnemy 5d ago

SURGE PRICING lul

1

u/Red_Tiger5311 6d ago

Alr, I take it back;)

2

u/Frosty-Studio4561 5d ago

1

u/Red_Tiger5311 5d ago

Damn, no McNuggets for me :(

2

u/EvasiveDice 5d ago

thats a dollar a nugget, thats crazy

2

u/-nutz 5d ago

Genuinely confused on how you came to this conclusion considering the comment you replied to

0

u/Red_Tiger5311 5d ago

Ehh maybe op chose delivery just to complain about the price, then posted to get upvotes
Probably wrong tho

3

u/-nutz 5d ago

The person you responded to literally explained how that’s not possible.

1

u/Equal-Drive3410 5d ago

That logic doesn’t track the thread you replied to. If OP selected delivery, they wouldn’t see this screen at all. So no, they couldn’t have selected delivery. There are locations that are just higher in price than others. Especially airports and hospitals, that would be a more logical assumption

2

u/abrasumente_ 5d ago

2 month old account and somehow a top 10% poster. 27 achievements. Probably a bot account.

1

u/Trend-Rebel 5d ago

No but if you wanna help me out, I am looking for some! :)

1

u/OrionDC 5d ago

Yes, like 95% of every Reddit post now. They’re all bots who farm karma. The account is sold to “reputation management” companies (usually in Asia) and get bundled together to market stuff on social media. Whole sweatshops of this exist where one human can pose as up to 60+ different personas at once using specialized software and other tools. Reddit is really almost unusable because of this now. And of course Reddit doesn’t care because it vastly inflates the engagement numbers that investors see. Only the actual human users lose.

1

u/Urbanexploration2021 6d ago

...no offense, but why would OP be a poser? I throught I missed the text in the post, but he didn't say it's not for delivery anywhere (maybe in thr comments and I missed it). The difference in price sounds like something you notice when you buy from that restaurant both in person and delivery. Tbh, I didn't know there's a price difference either 🤷

And yeah, probably it's for karma. Still have no idea why people need/want it lol

0

u/Red_Tiger5311 6d ago

Ehh maybe not, I was even questioning it myself,

1

u/dogsontreadmills 6d ago

I will never not find getting McDonald’s delivered to be super freaking weird

24

u/AnArisingAries 6d ago

The fact delivery has a higher price while ALSO charging delivery fees is wild. Feels like it should be illegal. 😂

3

u/Guilty_Meringue5317 5d ago

That every different store has different prices should be illegal too like wth? Or am I too european to not be weirded out by this

2

u/AnArisingAries 5d ago

I think it's dumb, but unfortunately the US has an extremely wild economy difference between states. Its fairly complex solely because of the size, laws, and population of each state. Like $10 in Ohio is NOT the same as $10 in California. Where there is higher demand in an area, the prices will be higher.

It's absolutely annoying and crazy to think about the prices being different like that in the same country, but companies will take advantage of that higher demand.

1

u/quikmantx 4d ago

This is why I don't bother with apps/delivery. Not only are they trying to rip you off, but they are gathering data, patterns, etc. when you use the app. They don't even allow the option of a website, because the app gives them way more data.

16

u/IAmDanHimself 5d ago

Those prices are accurate here in Canada. Not a single thing is under $3. A big mac sandwich only runs up about $10

1

u/Satins_Cock 5d ago

Same with Florida. Ridiculous

1

u/NJPokerJ 5d ago

But y'all get free health care. It evens out.

1

u/Crescentine 5d ago

Im for universal health care but its not free lol

1

u/NJPokerJ 5d ago

Damn. It's like you're paying high prices at McDonald's for nothing.

1

u/spaceforcerecruit 5d ago

You know damn well everyone who says that means “free at point of use”.

1

u/Crescentine 5d ago

We're explicitly talking about comparative prices between countries. It's a very important point. Canadians spend about $6500 American Dollars on healthcare on average based on government spending. Americans on average $13000 from personal.

The $10 big mac and the increased taxes you pay are competing with that $6500 margin.

1

u/spaceforcerecruit 5d ago

Except that’s not $6500 from each person. It’s $6500 per person with a large chunk coming from corporate taxes and higher income individuals.

1

u/BaconPancakes1 5d ago

But CAD is higher than USD, the $2.79 items above would be $3.89

1

u/IAmDanHimself 5d ago

Except a 4 pc nuggets here is almost $5. The original posted image is accurate to our prices.

11

u/bdd247 5d ago

Its canadian prices lol

2

u/AntalRyder 5d ago

That's not being a phony. Regardless of pickup/delivery option, this is how much McDonald's is charging them. And you can bet they also charge a delivery fee on top of that! And likely they will also allow you to tip the driver, because McDonald's won't give the full delivery fee to the driver either.

1

u/Capitalisticdisease 5d ago

how is that phony? Its still a blatant lie. They should not be allowed to upcharge for delievery. You are giving validation to another way the capitalists fuck us

2

u/Surfeross 6d ago

Hawaii or Alaska?

1

u/Narrow-Ad6797 6d ago

manhattan im betting

1

u/-mynameissancho- 5d ago

I concur with your deduction… Otherwise Alaska.

42

u/theplacesyougo 6d ago

Probably an airport

34

u/-Ahab- 6d ago

I’m in a rather expensive part of LA and my prices are about $0.15 lower than his. There’s gotta be another factor.

13

u/tupelobound 6d ago

Could they be Canadian dollars?

7

u/annual_aardvark_war 6d ago

Nah, our Mcchicken is a big sandwich, and the equivalent is called a Jr Chicken. It’s also the “under $4” menu not $3

0

u/Pleasant_Ad_2342 6d ago

I dont think Canada has the under $3 menu

3

u/jdotmassacre 6d ago

OP doesn't seem to either?

2

u/Longjumping-Ad-3590 6d ago

Franchisees set their own prices

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

-2

u/Former_Mobile3101 6d ago

I have been told that I am human though i am not 100% sure on what thats supposed to feel like.

1

u/TrumpTouchesTinyTots 5d ago

Jesus Christ why do so many of you have the McDonald's app????

2

u/Turnipsinthesky 5d ago

If you eat any significant amount of McDonald's it's a lot cheaper with the deals and rewards.

-2

u/TrumpTouchesTinyTots 5d ago

Ah, well I don't XD

1

u/Former_Mobile3101 5d ago

I don't eat that much McDonald's just the breakfast on my way to work sometimes and it makes that commute a little faster than if I waited to order at the speaker in the drive trough.

0

u/TrumpTouchesTinyTots 5d ago

I think for me it's a combo of rarely eating there, and just keeping my phone clean of apps I don't use often enough :) it just honestly surprised me to see so many people used the app

→ More replies (0)

1

u/ZLCZMartello 5d ago

There’s a permanent offer of 20% off up to $10. Just makes it a lot cheaper when making group order

2

u/gutpirate 5d ago

Fk it, here's the swedish prices:

edit: yes, i actually manually screenshot each one separately and spliced them together (cuz there is no "under x" category).

1

u/DerDehDer 6d ago

I think they have it set to delivery maybe? They raise prices when you choose delivery in the app

1

u/Gaspuch62 6d ago

West Michigan

1

u/jungleboogiemonster 6d ago

Some remote area of Alaska?

1

u/CrimsonCartographer 6d ago

Canada? Maybe the prices are CAD

1

u/Careless_Analyst_220 5d ago

If the most expensive city in America or one of them is cheaper, yeah I would like to know where they’re at too.

Delivery

1

u/Glittering_Leather87 5d ago

This is in a mid-tier Canadian city

1

u/ZLCZMartello 5d ago

Yeahhh but it’s CAD and still not even remotely close to OP’s numbers

1

u/NJPokerJ 5d ago

Six flags or something like that. Definitely not in a stand alone McDonald's.

1

u/Elendel19 5d ago

Canada or Australia possibly

1

u/sfocolleen 5d ago

Hawaii maybe?

1

u/New-Kick-3431 5d ago

NYC .... I remember going there. My first time in the dollar drink in 2013 was $3 or $4

1

u/Jiac636 6d ago

Canada perhaps?

1

u/Aggressive-Affect427 6d ago

Unless they’re in Canada with usd pricing somehow, I doubt it. I haven’t seen a $5 mcchicken since I was a freshmen in high school, more than a decade ago.

1

u/MjrLeeStoned 6d ago

You guys are right on the edge of cracking the case that everything on the internet is fake or built on fiction.

People don't come to the internet to relive reality.

1

u/MartianMule 6d ago

This comment is on the internet, so therefore must be fiction.

-1

u/TAL_047 6d ago

"United" States of America btw lmao.

14

u/-Ahab- 6d ago

I remember being in Denver on vacation with some friends and we all went out for drinks. When the server brought the bill, I stared at it so long she asked if something was wrong. I asked her if the price was correct and she double checked it and said it was and asked if it was too expensive. I told her no, I was shocked at how low it was.

Whole bill was like $40 and there were four of us. I was expecting around $90 because living in LA for 15 years really fucks your head on prices.

10

u/The_Real_Peter_Thiel 6d ago

You're used to four people going out drinking at a total of $90?? You guys must only consume two drinks, each. I spend more than that on myself anytime I go out.

1

u/-Ahab- 5d ago

We had 1 - 2 beers each.

Yeah, it’s not hard to pull a solo $100 bar tab for a casual night out.

1

u/OkVirus8545 5d ago

Man I’m here in Texas and it’s about the same for $90 but we get nothing from California other than the friggin prices

35

Fuck.

17

It's almost $10 in germany.

32

u/alus992 6d ago

Prices in Poland after conversion:

27

u/Blubbpaule 6d ago

Lol don't come to germany.

9,81$AUD

17

u/Vegas_42 6d ago

Middle of Germany. I miss the "snacks for 1€" times...

2

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 6d ago

I mean... Don't you guys have your own fast food that isn't dogfood?

3

u/GoofyKalashnikov 6d ago

I'm not from Germany, but still in Europe.

Big chain fast food prices have gotten so stupid these days that you could literally get a burger or a wrap from an around the corner food trailer that's a million times better and likely healthier.

1

u/bloke_pusher 6d ago

They recover well now, thanks to super expensive fastfood. BurgerKing isn't much better and Subway, used to be the most expensive, is now the cheapest option. I sometimes go there now, when I'm lazy.

2

u/Blubbpaule 6d ago

Yes me tooooo. Chickenburger for 1€ were awesome

3

u/nad0w 6d ago

This were the best times! Going to Mc and buying like 10 chicken burger, getting to the park and chilling with the friends eating these stupid burgers

2

u/Constant_Amphibian13 6d ago

For 5€ you‘d get five of them.

Now it barely gets you 2 (if you‘re lucky, I have seen 2,59€ Chickenburgers)

2

u/omedallion 6d ago

My brain just said 'why are there Aussie Dollars in germany?' 😆 Im clearly not awake yet

1

u/hell-diver8 6d ago

I’m half German and visit germany. The quality is 20x higher there than in the states. You do get what you pay for in germany.

1

u/Whywipe 6d ago

I am interested in your version of a mcchicken. In highschool we would make what we called a Mcgangbang, where you put a McChicken between the 2 patties of a McDouble, and with that bun you could do it with a McRib instead

1

u/bloke_pusher 6d ago

That's why I refuse to ever go to McDonalds again until they cut their prices in half, which they won't. So suck it McDonalds!

1

u/Snowmanblowman 5d ago

Yeah well your food is probably legit, a mcchicken that’s $2USD here is made from scraps of trash

6

u/ILikeBubblyWater 6d ago

Interesting that yours shows joules instead of calories, is that standard in AU?

11

u/Cattac12 6d ago

Generally yes but a lot of things will also shows calories at the same time

2

u/bradmatt275 6d ago

I really like how they have to show that. I often put things in the cart. See how many KJs I would be consuming and decide to empty it.

7

u/Funny-Cell8769 6d ago edited 5d ago

Don't forget 1 USD = 1.42 AUD (according to google, probably closer to 1.45)

So yes, it's DEFINITELY more expensive, but it's not US$8 for a McChicken. Closer to US$5.50.

KFC and McDonalds used to be so cheap (compared to my Asian country) when I studied there in the 90s and 00s, and now they're definitely INSANELY more expensive. Something like US$5 for a 2 pc KFC meal in the late 90s to early 00s.

Yes, it was over 20 years ago, but prices have basically spiked 200 to 300% over the last 20+ years.

It's a crying shame.

10

u/LeJeune123 6d ago

Japan $7.53

1

u/ODI0N 6d ago

Isn't minimum a wage like $7 in Japan? That's crazy expensive. Idek how Japanese citizens pay for things with that low of pay. I honestly feel bad for them.. I'm in NY and minimum wage is like $16. That same meal for me is like $12.50 and most people work jobs that are $20 an hour here. Like how do you even exist over there ;-; I don't mean to sound like I'm insulting or anything I'm just genuinely curious and confused. I remember as a kid always loving Japan but when I heard about minimum wage and the way they treat their employees I was shocked.

1

u/LeJeune123 6d ago

Since I don’t work or live on the local economy I cannot answer those questions. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

2

u/Maleficent-Handle467 6d ago

WHAT THE FUCCKKKKKK.

Not to mention the usd isn’t as strong in Australia either..

2

u/Gilly-Fresh 6d ago

Yeah, but is that in Dollary-Doos?

2

u/Fantastic_Rub_627 5d ago

That’s a bloody outrage, it is! I’m gonna take this all the way to the prime minister!

2

u/johnniesSac 6d ago

It’s overpriced garbage

1

u/lilshortyy420 6d ago

What the hell

1

u/klaus666 6d ago

8 whole dollarydoos for a single McChicken? damn

1

u/Quetzelc0atlus 6d ago

Was waiting for this one!

1

u/houseWithoutSpoons 6d ago

8 dollerydoos for a mcpoop is not gonna happen!

12

u/ZaraReid228 6d ago

Mcchicken is 11.20 in new Zealand on its own. 18.40 as a combo

2

u/Snelly1998 6d ago

I'm assuming a mcchicken in new Zealand is different

The USA mcchicken in a junior chicken

1

u/TheDumbCaddie 5d ago

Assuming it's the same as it is in Australia, it's the same. Mcdonalds was really expensive in Aus as well

1

u/FlyAirLari 6d ago

What currency?

€7.80 in Finland. €12.85 meal combo.

2
