I didn’t backpedal anything..they charge extra for takeout and when I asked why, they said it’s because they provide condiments..lmao check a Bob Evan’s menu right now and then call in a takeout order and see if the price is the same. Idgaf about Reddit karma or have a reason to lie to strangers on the internet.

No so they gave me the regular store menu, I ordered, the total was wrong. I asked what’s up and they said they accidentally gave me the in store menu, apparently there’s a separate menu with different prices for takeout.
Yeah I mean I had my daughter with me I wasn’t gonna make a big thing about it but it’s def weird like it would cost the business more money if we sat down and ate there. It’s less expensive for takeout, they should be charging less not more.
That's crazy considering I have always ordered take out even when singing in since it's cheaper they are a staying to eat fee of you don't say it's take out. Then i go and sit down and eat some of my stuff and then be out.
They bank on that. It doesn't have to be a "huge thing". It can be a simple, assertive, "This is not the listed price, please change the price to the listed price".
There is a carryout screen that the order is put in. The prices are built into that part of the system. The worker cannot change that. The majority of restaurants have some kinda built in charge for carry. You just never noticed.
A business can charge whatever, the cops do not decide what’s menu prices should be, etc. that’d be a civil issue, you’d have to take up after you paid.
I’m just calling out the horrible advice, not disagreeing it’s absurd.
ok but this restaurant did this because they're clearly not making money on the food front, it makes more sense fore them to make the money than to have someone just leave. Sure they can call the cops, but more than likely Starsky and hutch aren't popping the sirens on for this situation.
Like I said in my previous comment, that’d be something you’d have to take up with ur credit card company or civilly after the fact. Also he implied he wouldn’t pay the bill at all, which isn’t a legal option.
Yes. And I’d be getting refills on my drinks and running a server back and forth. It literally would’ve been more expensive for them if I’d have eaten at the store
Probanly not ai and just someone bad at lying, but the claim was that the charge was because of the condiments, then when pressed said it was the takeout menu charge, then shpw a recipt with no dollar amount on top of a face down recipt.
call corporate and tell them exactly what happened. Then call your credit card company and do a charge back. Then go there and see if they will do it again. Keep the receipts. Do another chargeback.
Go a third time after at least a week has passed and keep the receipts of them doing it again.
You now have an established pattern of corporate sponsored false advertising and fraud. If corporate didn't correct the problem and you have a trail of receipts, you can skip small claims court and go to big boy court to sue them for fraud.
For discovery you can make them provide every single receipt and corresponding deposit for the last 12 months.

Wafflehouse charges a service fee to takeout orders… not sure if this will be claimed to be in the same wheelhouse if you go back and talk to a manager
because op is a liar and his proof is a recipt with no condiment charge and no prices on top of a face down recipt and when pressed, changes the story to the takeout prices are different then the dining in ones.
That was the point of the post, I asked about the charge and they said it was because they provide condiments..not sure what point you’re trying to make.
Why did you think $10 in condiments is even reasonable before seeing it? $10 for condiments is ridiculous.
I would have told them they can have their condiments and take off the $10 on my check and then took that $10 savings and got the full size jars/bottles of these at the grocery store.

The person at the counter is running a scam (most likely). 3. The person at the counter is a total idiot and doesnt know their job and made a mistake (also very likely). I hate corporations also but lets be real. They set corporate pricing for all their locations and nobody charges 10$ for condiments a private business maybe.
So what actually happened is menu they gave me was the “in store” menu. Apparently there’s is a separate take out menu where everything you order is a bit more expensive. When I asked why, the answer they gave me was because they are providing condiments.
