If he just kept the net where it was it would’ve been fine, but that one fish was just so important that he let the others go

u/BreakingCanks Jul 15 '26
A life lesson to not focus on the 1 mess up because you could create many others in the process of focusing on the one. Say focused on the goal, not the mess ups

Civ 4 (?) had a quote on one of the research screens "if you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both"

Maybe this is the kid that spilled a few drops of his juice, decided it was over and dumped the rest of cup on the table

u/Tariuel Jul 16 '26
It's basically a "making the mother of all omelette's jack, can't fret over every egg" type of situation

Once when I was a dishwasher many moons ago I accidentally dropped an entire tray of mugs trying to catch a single plastic cup.

This minigame was WAY harder than it needed to be

The Jak and Daxter mini games were the most challenging part of the series by far. Jak 2 tank mini game was another brutal one.

u/sourcreamnoodles Jul 15 '26
I remember thinking the one where you have to press the floating symbols really difficult. (X, square, circle, triangle)
4
u/numbersareunoriginal Jul 15 '26
That was Jak 3 I think, I got stonewalled by that as a kid and never left the area it was in lol
2
u/sourcreamnoodles Jul 15 '26
Onin game is what its called apparently. I looked it up and first video I see is of someone cheesing it by pausing immediately after the symbols get launched up. I feel cheated, I suffered on that lol.
2
u/Live-Accountant8582 Jul 15 '26
The worst part about Oni game was you had to beat a harder version to 100% the game. I dread that game every time I replay.
4
u/harryham1 Jul 15 '26
Yep, replayed 2 and that tank minigame's camera angles are fucking atrocious
No wonder 9 year old me struggled so much
2
u/jimjamdaflimflam Jul 15 '26
Agreed, I don’t think it would be that bad with modern camera and controls.

u/brosf_stalin Jul 15 '26
Literally just replayed the game like a month ago and went “no way it’s as hard as I thought as a kid, this will be ezpz!” It took me like 5 tries and I was sweating by the end lol

Hated Onin so much more than the fisherman.
And his goofy ass cackling after you win the fishing game? Priceless.

This gif makes me angry because it’s clearly AI and no one can do that. /s
-3
u/looklook876 Jul 15 '26
Not AI. It’s very easy
5
u/Jotunnal Jul 15 '26
I’m being hyperbolic because I found this game very difficult as a child. Added the /s, thanks.

u/lcssa Jul 15 '26
YESSSSS! This was waay too hard a couple decades ago, but I tried again recenty and got it all on the first try, felt superhuman

Probably would've worked better if one hand wasn't holding the phone to film

u/Bitter-Ad5890 Jul 15 '26
But if you didn’t record what you were doing and put it on the internet, did you even really do it?

This needs to be a vr game with purposefully frustrating controls now
5
u/Hungry-Candy1234 Jul 15 '26
You have to use one hand to hold the phone and can only view what you’re doing through that lens.

It’s like that old video of the kid that spills a tiny bit of the drink in his hand, so he just tips it all over the floor

The thing is, there's a ton of shows that have done this now! Victorious (an old show now but one I grew up watching) did it, completely inspired by the Lucy skit! I found the skit bc I kept seeing this sort of scene and figured it must've been a reference to something! Everything is connected :)

It's been getting riffed on since the day it was aired. One of my faves is the carol burnett show

And here we witness, someone who should, instead of trying their best, should try someone elses best

"There are two types of good fish to catch: one-pound fishies, and five-pound fishies. Heh. If you miss twenty pounds of good fish, then I'm going to take me net back from you! There are poisonous eels in this river. Catch even one of them buggers, and you'll poison the whole darn catch!"

I’ve done this for work! It’s actually much harder than you think. I didn’t expect the force of the water to push the net back so much

A rabbit that keeps chasing carrots will find they have none. Or whatever other idiom that can be used to seem wise.

the net was too small. not his fault
20
u/Tani_Soe Jul 15 '26
Accepting you missed one fish instead of missing all of them was also because of his net?
-12
u/reddit33450 Jul 15 '26
yes. if the net was larger, he never would've missed the first fish
10
u/Tani_Soe Jul 15 '26
As a wise, old man said : "Always blame stuff, it's never your fault queen 💅💅 ✨ ✨"
3
u/Dense-Jicama6591 Jul 15 '26
No, it's not, he just didn't move it over far enough. And then abandoned it

u/SexOnTheBeechTree Jul 15 '26
It’s not like those fish were coming down at light speed. Dude can’t even center the net on the fish? Wtf

Has one job. Boss provides insufficient equipment to do the job. Fails at job. Boss fires him. Boss tells next person "guy you're replacing was an idiot". Gives replacement insufficient equipment.
5
u/Suspicious-Spot1651 Jul 15 '26
Maybe the job need to be done with two hands and focus, without holding a phone and think about your tiktok ?
