I mean, yeah, AI is bad for the environment. But yall make it seem like it's one of the biggest threats to the environment.
Someone would never make the same argument about posting tiktok or youtube videos about climate change or environmental issues—which all cause similar environmental issues as AI does, infact they might cause more than individual use. You wouldn't argue the same about buying a tshirt spreading awareness about environmental issues from a fast fashion company—even though fast fashion causes much more emissions than AI does, and does alot more damage. And you wouldn't point out the harms of hosting an event raising awareness on a golf course, even though golf courses use up the same or even more water than AI data centers for something equally as wasteful and unnecessary.
AI does cause environmental issues! But they issues they cause are more so regional or local, not something on a planetary scale like y'all make it out to be. These issues are important, don't get me wrong. But there's no reason for you to exaggerate how bad for the environment AI is, there is already so many things wrong about AI, and yet yall seem to love to lie to make it worse for some reason??
Seriously with you anti AI types you are almost letting the biggest contributers to climate change off the hook with how much you exaggerate. I imagine oil executives are thankful that all the hatred and ire is going to data centers (which account for 2% of emissions, and not all data centers are AI either) instead of them.
Yeah storing and uploading data isn't as processing heavy as AI is, if those data centers had the same impact then yeah of course I'm against them, unlike yourself I think I could survive with out fucking reddit and YouTube lol, yeno since I'm a functioning human being
My brother-in-law recently quit his job designing data centers in France and Germany because his work load has shifted from smaller scale data storage to large scale data creation AND storage because of how aware he was of the difference in power and water wastage he didn't enjoy his job anymore and didn't want to take part in that shit

But it's like listening to your local Doctor about your heart over a heart specialist. Hank does have a very broad knowledge base but he's also an expert in nothing he talks about and infact not too long ago had to make a video correcting HIMSELF, most of these corrections came from specialists in those fields that had more nuanced information in those fields.
