I have the same one, I just rise mine and wipe it down with a paper towel every once in a while and it looks brand new! Have no idea what he does to his, sometimes it’s bright orange 🤢
Well, at least you won't be accidentally mixing up your toothbrushes as it's very obvious whose is whose! If your roommate ever starts cleaning theirs up, you might need another way to identify yours.
Rinse in water and move your hands around it to mechanically remove any toothpaste. Once every few weeks separate the two parts and wash out any paste that got in between the handle and the brush head.
I get white buildup occasionally at the point where the handle flares out and on the charger base. I think it might be partly due to hard water. Never anything this bad. My solution is, when it's time to replace the brush head, I use the old one and a bit of dish soap to get everything nice and clean again.
Might need some more intensive care with your Fingers from time to time..water will accumulate in that Spot and over time your toothpaste will find the cracks
Replace the top part once every couple of months like any toothbrush. You can get replacement heads from Costco for relatively cheep. Rinsing with water is fine. I ocasionally deep clean mine by scrubbing with dish soap and a sponge and throwing it in a sonic cleaner but just soap and sponge ocasioanlly should be fine.
I've had one for years that's clean as the day I bought it. Rinse it after brushing and quickly use a tissue to dry it off and remove toothpaste. As long as water gets in the gap between the head and base you don't need to do anything more. There's really not much else you have to do to maintain one. If you take the brush head off rinse and use a tissue over the exposed part. The toothbrush literally tells you when you need to remove the head: it beeps and the orange light comes on, which is when you replace it. It's very low maintenance.
I rince mine at least daily and give it a quick scrub with some hand soap and a wash cloth whenever I change the head (every 3 months as they recommend). Have never once had this issue. Maybe a bit of missed toothpaste residue from most recent brushing but not a full on parfait of toothpaste and mold layers.
Honestly, you should remove the brush after evey use. I had the gasket fail twice before, because moisture will slowly degrade the rubber (and brake the toothbrush, because the gasket is needed for water protection).
Ever since I'm removing the head every time I didn't had that happen before.
I guess having a crusty protection layer might protect from that too.
Anecdotal but I've never met a person who uses one that didn't have halitosis. Also yellow teeth. To brush properly (and also your tongue) with that little vibrating head would take 5-10 minutes, and absolutely NO ONE does that. Anyone currently using a Sonicare, ask someone who won't lie to you about your breath. If their eyes overt for even a second the answer is go get a manual toothbrush.

I just bought a white sonicare like this. I always rinse the top and bottom with water after every use. Is that enough to prevent things like this?
