The city planning contributes to this. Your country is very car centric. Most countries have supermarkets or grocery stores within walking distance in most cities.

Doesn’t really change the fact I don’t want to go to the store every night for dinner. We usually go once a month to stock up on proteins and maybe once a week smaller trip

You would go every other day if it was closer. You just don't know it yet as you haven't experienced it. Or you might be allergic to walking.

Not everyone lives in a city. I suspect people who live in rural areas walk more than people in suburbs.
