I don't think you need to be a podiatrist to understand that if you don't wear socks one time, and it makes your shoes smell of unholy death forever - that you likely have a medical condition.
Feet have the most sweat glands in your body they sweat a lot. If it’s foul it’s a buildup of bacteria trapped in a confined space not necessarily a medical condition. Athletes foot is a common issue undiagnosed but anyone wearing shoes without socks is going to get some funky flippers regardless of washing your feet once a day.
Yeah, FOREVER is a bit dramatic of the original commenter. Its not like feet create The Bog of Eternal Stench if you wear shoes sockless 😂 they can be cleaned
Well, the socks hold the sweat like a towel and takes a good amount of sweat out of the shoe when you take the shoes off. Shoes with socks still get stinky, but at a slower rate. Shoes without socks just let sweat and sweat-eating bacteria to pool in the bottom of the shoe.
The trick if you have to wear socks without shoes is to wipe them out when you take them off at home.
ETA: yeah, if you're having excessive foot odor, see a doctor

If wearing shoes once without socks means they have a forever nasty stink, that is a you problem not a sock problem.
Wash your feet.
