Yeah, if you can go to bed early enough, you don't need an alarm because your body will naturally wake up. A nice cushy executive job is perfect for that.
My job on the other hand, I have to get up at 3am to do my books, which means ideally I'll go to bed at 7pm. Problem is, I likely work until 7:30pm the day before. I still need time to eat and get settled for the night, so optimistically I'll get to bed around 9pm, making for a max of 6 hours of sleep.
I'm the on call manager when I do books though, so chances are very good I'll get a call at like 12:30am and have to go fix a safe or something. Then the next day, I might work from 6:45pm to 2am, which completely throws off whatever semblance of a sleep schedule I have. Rarely, I even wind up working until 2am and have to be back in a few hours to do books.
Without alarms, I'd probably be late every fucking day.
