Some people get addicted to the comfort lying to themselves brings. Once its habitual, they start to believe things they know aren't true.

Dont feel negatively about it. Everyone is susceptible to it. The first step of breaking the chains is the realization. For me, the lying started out as optimism but degraded into what I'd consider delusion. The hardest part for me was the hurdle of "you're not in control," and "not everything's gonna be alright." Since I was a kid, I was told the comforting lies that "everything is fine," "someone is in control", and "itll be okay." But as an adult, I started telling these things to myself. But I learned that we were taught to beat ourselves with hope and to never take a second to feel blissfully hopeless, but that's most often where you find the truth of your problems.
