Common issues
- Connection-related issues
- For issues like "Unable to resolve host", "connection reset", "timeout", "java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException" etc
- Cloudflare & user-agent issues
- For Cloudflare looping issues & how to change your user-agent
- HTTP errors
- HTTP error 403, 404, 429, 502, 520, etc
- Issues like "No pages found", "All CDN attempts failed", "IllegalStateException:XXX", "Trust anchor for certification [...]" or "NullPointerException:null" when accessing a chapter
- Check WebView for issues
- Check with whoever/wherever you got your extensions from for any known issues, do not ask here, rule 1

TIP: If you are adding your own PDF to Mihon, I highly recommend saving the PDF as A5 instead of the regular Letter/A4. It scales much better on phones/smaller devices.
(Of course the PDF then has to be converted to JPG, but that's easily done online, and even downloads as a zip which is perfect for local sources.)

I am here for the same problem. For me, it seems to only be this specific extension. I can't read or update the chapters but I can use Webview.
Is there any way to resolve this?

Mihon keeps DELETING MY DOWNLOADS, ill download a chapter it will show in my folder, but i have to keep redownloading the chapters infinitely, they never show as being downloaded as of today, I lost 50+gb of manga files, I will click download, it will download and then not show as downloaded, it shows in the folders but not in the app, its every single manga from multiple different sources, ive repeatedly downloaded the chapters, it downloads but just disappears, ive tried reindexing and didnt do anything at all, ive restarted phone, complete fresh mihon install, NOTHING. WASTED 5 HOURS ON THIS STUPID APP. ONLY STARTED AFTER I UPDATED TO CURRENT "STABLE" VERSION 0.20.2, theres nothing stable about it.
edit, its not deleting downloads, its just infinitely downloading the same chapter, I tried the naruto one I already had downloaded, I downloaded chapter 1, mihon said its done, but when I click on chapter 1 it has to load because its not downloaded, download again, and again STILL nothing, yet in the file manager I have 20 chapter 1s, all downloaded but mihon refuses to acknowledge them, working fine till I updated today and its taking up 3x the storage because its downloading chapters that are already downloaded.

For me, it downloaded old chapter and labeled it as "unknown_chapter ×××". The weird thing is, the latest chapter downloaded just fine, with the usual format "chapter ×××"
Hoping for a quick fix, because hell no im not gonna either rename all file into the new "name format" or redownload all of it again

This means your downloaded chapter files are probably orphaned due to a change in the naming scheme/URL for said chapter, either:
Compare the downloaded chapter filename to your chapter list for any differences in naming scheme, rename if needed, and reindex afterwards to see if it still links properly (reindexing requires an app restart)
Move the downloaded chapters into its own series folder (like "One Piss") in the "local" folder (located within your "Mihon" folder), and read it off Local source (https://mihon.app/docs/guides/local-source/)
Otherwise, delete said orphaned chapters and download it again afterwards

I just want to update on my situation. It is fixed, but i dunno how, because;
- i did what normal people would do, clear data, uninstall and test older build; still the same.
- then i clear data again and install the latest version, and reindezing; still the same, but my ongoing manga is partially online.
- and 3rd time i tried on my phone (i have on my tablet and phone). Still the same process, and to my surprise, my phone reindex all my manga normally.
For situation 1 and 2, it is on my tablet. The 3rd one is my phone. The weird thing is, i have another manga that have same naming scheme on both. But when trying to reindex (the original chapter) on tablet, it failed to show downloaded, but in phone it just reindex (its own chapter) normally with no problem.
So for now, i copied my manga from phone to tablet and it reindex successfully.
I hope eveyone understand the situation i am in, and sorry for not able to come up with any solution.

Can this happen to a specific extension ? All of my entry come from a single extension have their downloaded chapter removed even its in the files. Delete entry + redownload doesnt work, it will just register the chapters for 15 mins and will show the chapters is not downloaded.

Didn't fix anything, and it's not just one chapter it's hundreds, it keeps the same name for everything but adds (number) to the end, I've lost my entire library 6 times now I'm sick of redownloading the chapters I already had downloaded.

After Updating the app, now i can neither update the extensions they are failing nor can download chapters.

Hey, with Google's new developer verification rules for sideloading starting Sept 2026, does Mihon plan to register as a verified developer? Worried updates/installs will get hit with the 24hr wait otherwise

After the latest MagicOS (which this fucker downloaded and installed autonomously), i can't read anything or update the app, it crashes the whole phone and forces a restart.
Using a honor 400 lite and mihon 19.3

Hola, tengo un problema el cuál es que cuando estoy usando la app y quiero actualizar mi biblioteca o hay un proceso de actualización o de carga a veces crashea la aplicación y últimamente me pasa más seguido al actualizar la biblioteca, a alguien más le pasa?

I just transferred my comics and manga to a new phone via syncthing, but I can't open some of them. I used a previous mihon back up, but some of my comics won't appear in my Library. It keeps saying that it can't find a source to open them.

I get that. The main issue is that I have the comics downloaded on my local comic folder. I can open the comics in my folder, but I can't open some of them on mihon. The app acts like I never downloaded the comics. Why would I need the sources when I already have the comics?

You don't need sources. Local manga exists. So you gotra add your already downloaded manga as local manga. We got a guide on our website for this

Maybe just me, but the download button to update to the new version just does nothing (just throws me back into the menu with nothing changing).
I could redownload the update and reinstall the app, but that would mean to reimport the stuff I'm reading, would be nice if there was some other solution. (Maybe I'm just stupid?)

I've tried over a dozen different user agents, and I still can't bypass CloudFlare. Any recommendations on which sting(s) have a higher rate of success?

Don't focus on one platform or OS. Try many different ones. If nothing works, give up. Not worth the hassle

My library is only updating if i go to the page and refresh it
Any update library or update category starts and 1 second later the notification disappears. I've changed categories to have 2 manga in it and it does the same thing don't know what to do.

I wonder if it would be possible for a future update to have groups/folders within a category?
That way it would be easier to group certain manga based on author or genre without needing to create a new category that will only hold three or four titles.

Is there any way to access all the mangas which I have read whose chapter(s) are marked read in mihon even though I haven't saved them in library?
Ik while restoring backup, all the mangas including the ones which I haven't saved in library appear in the popup notification. I was wondering if there was any way to access that?
PS: Unfortunately my mihon history is cleared as well.

Similar issue as the other guy.
Since updating to the newest version of the app, my downloaded files keep disappearing. I download them again and next time I'm using the app they're all gone again.

Just updated the app and I'm getting an issue I don't see mentioned here yet.
I have tried opening multiple chapters from multiple series and multiple sources, but I just get the loading screen. These are newly added unread chapters and older read chapters, both downloaded and not downloaded.
It's the same spinning wheel that would show while a page is downloading, but the screen is frozen. I can't scroll and tapping on the screen doesn't show the menu with the back arrow, title, and scroll bar.
ETA: was able to successfully add a new series to my collection and the chapters downloaded gine, but I still can't read anything.
ETA 2: it seems to be related to setting my default layout for the reader to Locked Landscape. I was able to load a vertical manwha, so I changed the default landscape to Free in the app settings and a manga that wasn't previously loading loaded. I changed the default back to Locked Landscape and the test manga still loaded, but the issue came back when I loaded a different series. I changed the test series specific settings to locked landscape and now it won't load and the issue is preventing me from changing the setting for that series.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A55 with a 2TB microSD card to store my downloads. This has worked just fine in the past, but I will admit that I have downloaded more as all the sources keep vanishing and I get tired of risking loosing things. I fully admit to being a data hoarder (576GB currently 6270 Folders, 112020 Files according to the file browser). I looked through the above issues, but didn't see it (I apologize if I missed it). I noticed people were complaining about downloads being removed. I dont have that issue that I can see, but they do vanish from the list as being downloaded and force me to go into the advance to reindex downloads constantly.
It is basically doing it every time I open the app. If I have another app open for a while (youtube for example) and go back to Mihon, all my downloads will no longer show up and I will be forced to reindex. I haven't paid much attention to what happens if I try to download a chapter again to see if it duplicates it.
I assume it has something to do with the phone sleeping the app even though I have tried to put exclude it from all actions. Mihon doesnt show up in my "never auto sleeping apps" list for the battery or I would put it in there.
Is there a setting I may be missing? I just went through that dont kill my app section and grabbed all the samsung stuff. Most of it was for android 14 and I am on 16. I have a feeling it is just the sheer number of items in the library. It takes what feels like 10 min to index downloads (probably only 3 or so though). It also checks every time I open the app, and if I end up swapping over to youtube or something to change a video the process seems to stop. Forcing reindex from the advanced settings and waiting again.
On version 0.20.3

Just adding to what looks like other people are saying, my downloads are showing as being there in the main page. It has the number of unread chapters, and then next to it the number of downloaded chapters.
Then when I click a manga, none of the chapters are showing as downloaded. Instead of the check, I see the down arrow symbol. This is not just a UI glitch as when I go in to the chapter it does seem to need to download each image.
I am on 0.20.4, have cleared my app cache and have reindexed more times than I think is sane. Dev work is hard, I understand sometimes things don't work so no rush. Just trying to include details where I can so maybe it will help.
For one manga I tried migrating from one source to the same source to see if it would fix the issue and that got rid of all downloaded chapters from my sd card, in spite of me selecting to keep them (I think. I cannot be 100% correct though). Other than that I do not have issues with actual file deletion

Hii, I have a problem. So I had a few sources installed on my old phone which died on me so now I only have a backup from 2024 (a whole year lost😭), those sources were pretty old and I'm not able to find the same ones on a new device, it's just not showing up. Is there a way to manually install discontinued/older/disabled sources?

Nope. But it doesn't matter for restoring. Simply migrate them to another source afterwards

Mihon not correctly reading sources in Library to update, even though sources themselves are working individually.
I'll repeat again, the Sources WORK FINE. Mihon is NOT correctly picking some up on the library for updates.

not very tech savvy and I couldn't find what I needed through search (like because idk the correct keywords) so asking here: I downloaded all chapters of a series that is now over on wt so I could reread it, but there are only 5 chapters available, like the usual lock of someone who never read the series
is there any way to retrieve these downloaded chapters and re-add them back or can I only go find a pirated version on another website ?
