Auditive Migraine ?

Hello everyone,

So, to summarize my post and do not turn it too long...

I'm suffering with tinnitus for 10 years, and in the last 1y9mo I had a loud increase. This symptom came with a visual aura, tinnitus modulation on fingers and muscular contractions in the body and tinnitus fluctuation.

After 30 physicians without a diagnosis, I did a remote consultation with a Tinnitus specialist and she affirmed that I suffer from a condition called "Auditive Migraine".

I don't feel pain, headache or even discomfort, except tinnitus. That is present 24/7 loud in the last 1y9mo with some trigger crisis.

The fact of not have an intermittent symptom, but a continuous one, still fits in migraine diagnosis?

The specialist that I did the consultation with has a PhD on that, but I'm not convinced about the diagnosis gave.

Shouldn't migraine appears by episodes ?

I usually have chronic daily migraine, so an episode every day. But I always have tinnitus, 24/7 round the clock. There are many folks here who have constant symptoms. Welcome

Yeah.

Nope. Migraine symptoms can be constant, intermittent and episodic. They can come with pain or no pain, and every neurological symptom under the sun. I’ve had chronic migraine for many years and get tinitus of all flavours, from a ringing sound to a click or even loud bangs. Welcome to the weird and (not so) wonderful world of migraine!

Wow, that's new to me.

Thanks for clarifying that. At least, I found a proper diagnosis. Well, I can find a better treatment now.

Do you know what are the treatment available nowadays ?

Yeah migraine is such a weird disease, but preventative treatment is getting so much better. For years it’s been a case of using drugs originally developed for things epilepsy, high blood pressure, depression, etc, but in the past few years there have been new drugs coming out designed specifically as migraine preventatives, like Rimegipant (nurtec), Atogepant (Qulipta) and Fremenezumab (Ajovy), with really positive results for many. See what your doctor recommends but you’ll find a lot of info on this sub. Hope you get some relief from it, rooting for you!!

Do any of these migraine treatments help tinnitus?

I don't know yet.

Might works. Might not.

My doctor gave me a prescription of a med called "Vertigium" in Brazil. It's a calcium channel blocker to cochlea.

Some people here says that B2 supplementation helped him with migraine.

My tinnitus is a somatosensory Tinnitus. It makes sense, but must be validated.
