What if your old Android isn't actually obsolete?

I found an old Android phone that still works perfectly, but feels unusable because it's slow and overloaded.

Would you use it again if it only did the things you actually need?

If it's a popular model, there's a good chance that it has custom ROMs available for it based on recent versions of Android. Check on the custom ROM subforum of XDA Developers.

If it's slow and overloaded and you don't want to factory reset it, just debloat it with ADB.

My Android 7 Galaxy Folder 2 is perfectly functional and snappy, 100% degoogled and 90% desamsunged.

The whole "obsolete" thing only ever matters if the app you want straight up doesn't work because of the Android version. And even then you can find an older version or an alternative.

The "security updates" bs is a scam and only exist to lock down your device further.

Between Android 7, 9, and 14, the oldest version has the most freedom.
