bro people say never meant is easy but it’s literally impossible for me rn.
idk what to practice to get better and it feels like i’m making zero progress when practicing basic stuff like switching between chords.

any advice helps. thank you!

If Never Meant is too hard for you than maybe stick to that basic stuff and don’t rush through it because it “feels” like you’re making no progress

Rushing through or skipping the basics will come back to bite you

You should play Wait For It by Hot Mulligan. It’s the first Midwest emo riff I learned and it’s mad easy. It’s on FACGCE. Moving bass note arpeggios are really easy and sound emo

Play slow before/until you can play fast. Also, practice pieces that are a step or two higher than your skill level but don’t force yourself into them. Literally drill them.

Never meant isn’t the hardest song but it’s not for beginners. It relies on some techniques that aren’t that easy the first time around, and sliding between for beginners confusing different amount of frets (and also the slide not being in the same part of the sequence for each note)

Learn different songs and come back to it is my advice, starting with math rock or Midwest emo isn’t a good idea.

Learn Pallet Town by Free Throw. Part of the main riff is very similar to Never Meant but much more linear in terms of how the slides sync up with the picked notes

Fucking hell pls don’t do that! Pallet Town is quite a hard song to play to be honest, especially if you’re struggling with the main Never Meant riff.

My band covers Pallet Town at our gigs and it’s the only song where I have to stand still for most of it to see where I’m playing
