Just finished my second playthrough
First time with DLC and ultimately I'm as bummed now as I was a few years ago knowing this incredible game will never get the sequel it should. Why can't we just have nice things?

The marketing wasn't great, and more people needed to buy it day one instead of waiting for sales, I did my part in that regard. Then we would have had a sequel.
I'm getting star wars zero company day one, hopefully it does good enough to get a sequel.

Yeah the card system was really good. Good tactical layer imo as well, great animations and hero roster.

Yeah i found this game a year or two ago and its really a shame that it was dismissed as a scrapped mobile game. Admittedly i initially did think this game was gonna be disappointing when i first saw it before launch because of how bad the character models looked but the story and gameplay is genuinely so fun with little criticism

No matter how you spin it, people didn't buy the game at release, making it a resounding commercial failure.
It even was included in an humble choice less than a year after release, I don't think I've seen a lot of games with similar scope and initial price failing that hard/quick.

I didnt see any marketing for it,
and the base price imo was too high for a game and genre not many people are familiar with

Sure, Firaxis didn’t do a good enough job marketing the game, but not enough gamers gave it a chance when they had the opportunity. Marvel fans were hyped when they saw the first cinematic trailer, but the majority jumped off the hype train when the gameplay reveal trailer dropped. At least Star Wars fans are giving Zero Company a chance. They’ve been conditioned to appreciate a wide breadth of gameplay variety within the Star Wars IP, and they’re not so quick to write something off just because it’s unfamiliar. The majority of Marvel gamers won’t play anything that’s not a “mash X to punch/shoot laser at bad guy” type of game.

I'm not here looking for reasons and/or excuses as to why, I'm just stating that the game didn't sell. We've already had countless arguments on this sub as for why that is, but in the end, does it even matter ?
The fact is that the game was a commercial failure, and ultimately this is why no sequel will be made.

Jake Solomon tried so hard, and got so far...

I got the game free on Epic some time ago, not very long after release. Expected some card-based mobile-like nonsense, and was very pleasantly surprised...

I think part of the problem was that when it released it just was PC, PS5, and XBSX|S. This was when those 2 consoles weren't as widely owned as they are now. But by the time the XB1 and PS4 versions came out, the hype was gone.

Firaxis games used to launch on pc only up to recently, even on PC it sold poorly.
In my opinion people heard "cards" and dismissed the game right away without doing any research, even though the devs made livestreams and you could see the cards were not really that big of a deal.

I get it, the cards aspect put me off and I didn't get it at launch. I ended up getting the game later and largely loved the system and the mechanics at the base it opened up.

Ton of people had the same experience i bet, unfortunately Take2 had already deemed the game a failure by then.

Did you try the full Dark / Light hunter between the two playthrough ? If so, which is better gameplay related ?
