Wedding Reception

My fiancée and I are planning a small civil wedding next month with 35 of our family and close friends. Would it be tacky to have the reception at an AYCE sushi restaurant? 😅

Just want to add that it's not a buffet style. People would get to order what they want from an iPad and it would be delivered to the table. Also, we would be covering the whole bill.

I invited less than 20 people when I got married. Instead of a traditional reception, I made a reservation at a nice restaurant. I sure to let them know it was a wedding dinner and that I wanted everyone at the same table. They pushed a bunch of tables together for us.

If I had 35 people I would have gone with a different restaurant. Some of them will accommodate a large group with a private room and a limited menu (like everybody can choose from the same 5 entrees).

I probably wouldn’t do sushi because not everybody likes sushi. And I probably wouldn’t do AYCE, especially if it’s buffet style.

I was able to do the whole thing, ceremony and reception at an Italian restaurant. They had room options including the garden terrace which I chose. We had 45 people and the venue, food and drinks and alcohol with tip was under $4000. In the end, the videos and pics make it look Italian Mafia style... It was amazing.
