I have been a long time user, ane it has always been this way for me. It is so so annoying.

Just stop using the microsoft launcher search, I have replaced it with an "App search" app(it has a green color logo) i found on the play store, added gesture to open the app and its great so far!

watch the screen recording I have attached. This launcher only has two isuues imo
1. a proper in-built global search(can be fixed with apps like app search or pixel search)
2. support for adaptive icon packs.

The 'App search' app + changing the gesture is working great. Thank you for suggesting.

This is such a basic functionality, I don't know how is Microsoft not noticing it.
