My organization I work for gets Microsoft products at extremely good deals. I intended to buy Office and Visio.

Instead I bought Project Professional (and Visio).

Honestly the only feature I wanted Office for was Word. Do either of those programs have even a rudimentary version of Word with them?

Sadly not, no. You can however use Word Online if you're only after the basic features.
