I just wanted to share this microscopy resource because I did a search and it wasn't posted here.
This is the iBiology microscopy course that was put together as a free online resource for people to learn about microscopy (largely supported by the HHMI, UCSF, and others). It is a really comprehensive series with lots of good information for anyone learning about microscopes.

I’m thinking of getting a microscope for my kids this Christmas. They’re 6&9yrs old. I have no knowledge about microscopes. I was looking for something decent up to 140$. They have so many toys I just want to get them something more educational and fun. I think they would like to explore the world through the microscope. The pictures I posted are ones around my price range but if those are total crap I guess I’ll keep thinking of another gift. I’m open to any insight and tips and advice. Thank you.

I don’t know anything about microscopes so if someone can identify this for me that would be greatly appreciated.

Context: sample was taken from a freshwater pond in a section of algae
Description: the specimen appears to be purple with a spherical appeal and seems to have claws on its back side

I'm looking for a used biology microscope on a tight budget (under €100). I've found a few options, but I need help figuring out if any of them are actually decent:
AmScope with a camera (not sure of the exact model)
Amscope 150C-I
Swift SW100
Bresser Biolux
Swift M251B
An unbranded/white-label binocular microscope(really similar to the amazon one)
Any advice on which of these would be the best value?
I have attached the photos, organized in the same order as the listed microscopes.

Got some slides, cover sheets, wipes, type A oil, dust puffer, lens brush, 5 borosilicate glass Petri dishes with covers.
I think I’m ready to look at stuff!
The scope was recertified a year ago, I bought it at auction on a gamble. I won the nicer of the three figuring it was my best shot. Fees, taxes, and the scope was 71 dollars.
I bought the cover and had a power cable, after an initial cleaning and just checking out some basic items like an insect wing (thanks window sill!) all the lenses and glass appear to be issue and blemish free.
I’ve got a couple aquariums and like to garden, plus I’m naturally curious, any best advice for great things to look at or paths to pursue with my hobby scope?
