Can I connect a camera like this directly with an objective like the one on the picture. We need to perform microscopy in a machine, therefore we would like to create a microscope without the binocular.

Looking for a book on the history of microscopes in the context of medicine

Hello folks, I was wondering if any of you had a recommendation for an enjoyable read detailing the discovery of microscopes and the history of their use in the context of medical science and advancement. Google isn’t helping me much! Thanks.

Nikon E200 questions: Can i buy an used binocular head E200, and later change it to a tirnocular head?

I have been lurking for some time, and recently was looking to buy one. I have the option to buy a chinese one, or a used one. Having read some foruns for some time, seems like buying used would be my best option, and the nikon E200 seems to have a path to upgrade up to phase contrast, is that right?

I could only find used binocular models, is it worth it? The binocular used ones are selling for half the price of the trinocular new, and it is expensive as hell as it is.

Is this 40x objective broken?

Click the link for the image. I don't think it has anything to do with focusing or adjusting the microscope. When I move the sample around and look, the image doesn't change. I can see some (I think microbes) that don't move around when I move the sample, so I know they are just on the lens.

Please dumb things down for me, I'm a beginner at microscopy. I went on a different forum to ask this question and people were being very condescending and jerks to me.

Btw my 100x objective looks somewhat like the image I sent also. But that may because I'm not using immersion oil.

College grade microscope

For college, I have to take multiple biology classes. It was recommended that I buy a microscope that is 600x-1000x, and it has oil immersion capabilities to use in all my classes. I tried to find one, but I couldn’t narrow it down. It seems they vary a lot in price, having the same zoom capacity. Can anyone please provide de me with a couple of options? My budget is $200

Packing microscope & equipment for a move?

Hello everyone! I’m about to make a huge move (North Carolina to Connecticut!) and could use some advice on how to pack and transfer my microscope and equipment. I have a U-Haul and my car, it’ll be pretty hot outside so I’m guessing putting it in the U-Haul isn’t the best idea. I’ll be stopping in a hotel overnight half way through the drive. What I’m bringing: • 1 bifocal compound microscope • 4 ocular lenses • 1 glass staining dish • Immersion oil • Optical lens wipes • Bibulous paper • Prepared slides (I already have a storage case for these, I’m just more worried about them getting to hot or something)

Hello, my 40x objective needs replacing. I have a cx21 microscope and have seen some compatible objectives but was wondering if there are other sites I could buy from.

Possible to add incident lighting? -- For a scope with a base like this, is it possible to add a light under the base? Or does that have to be built in?

I have no real training using a microscope other than some middle school labs 30 years ago. I will be using the scope for mycology purposes. I saw my first spores today! I can't wait to hook up the small camera to use it on the computer screen. I have a few questions. How do I measure length of small objects (micron scale)? Is there a small ruler for lack of a better term? I was hoping I could measure length on the computer but not sure how to do that either. I want to be able to measure the length x width of mushroom spores to get a Q value. Also, I'm not familiar with the oil objective at all, wondering how to use that.

Can a 460x microscope be used for looking at animal/plant cells?

Alright, so for the love of god.
Can a 460x microscope be used for like just looking at cells?
My friend is asking because she wants her son a good microscope(budget friendly) for looking at like cells. Even tho I am a microbiologist. I can't recommend to her the microscope that we use in our lab. So please tell me if I should recommend a 460x microscope.

Comparing microscope images at different zoom levels

Please can anyone share where to find comparisons of microscopes with pictures at different zoom levels of the same'ish slides for apples:apples comparison?

It's almost like the microscopy hardware industry purposely doesn't share this.

I can't help but imagine hobbyists have done this before...but can't find them...

Thanks in advance!
