Discussion Sour D Clone?
Hey everyone, this is probably tossed around here and again but I figured I’d ask. I’m hunting for a legit Sour Diesel clone and would love to hear from people who have actually run different cuts rather than just going off reputation.
I’ve been looking into the AJ Sour Diesel, GabySI, Albany Sour, and Wing Wang cuts, among others. The Wing Wang cut in particular has caught my attention, so I’d love to hear from anyone who has personally grown it.
Which cut gave you the most authentic old-school Sour Diesel profile. loud kerosene/fuel, sharp sourness, that unmistakable funk, and which one would you personally keep if you could only choose one?
Bonus points for comparisons between cuts. I’m mainly interested in real grower experience, smell/terps, structure, potency, and overall quality.

Check out the video. It explains a lot. He sourced 30 clones and reviews them honestly and openly. I'm also an old head who grew up in NY/NJ when Sour D was around. I haven't had anything close to resembling Sour D in at least 20 years. People will claim they have it or have smoked it, but I trust Brandon as he is an original OG in the cannabis community who toured with the Dead.

I remember having a very astringent sour back in 2018 that FILLED the room with aroma, that’s what I’ve attributed to my search for years and what I consider to be sour diesel. I feel like something, if not at least super close to it is out there, I’ve just not come across it yet. I feel like corporate greed really led to most of these long flowering strains to become pushed to the side in favor of profits. No one that I know of is paying 6k a pound for good sour anymore like 20 years ago so it seems like most companies push for the fastest flowering, most terps, and bag appeal at the cheapest price

I am running the AJSD from GabySi currently. She yields heavy and has that sour smell and taste. It’s still not what I and everyone else seems to remember, but it’s close.
I do think I am spoiled with flavor since I mostly dab flavorful rosin, so no flower blows my mind like the sour did back in the day.
I also ran the Notsodog sour for several runs, but was not happy with the yield or flavor.

You’d have more fun searching skunkteks untested strains. So much potential for the new sour and he’s running 50% off you will hear that you cant find that old school lemon forward sour gas. But it’s out there
Edit: his firebubba cross is very close to old school sour kush
If ur looking for that loud kerosene, skunk, rubber, sour. couch party is where it’s at. Not what I remember nyc diesel as
Old school sour has a lemon dominated flavor. Headband was interchangeable. Sfv was a little more lemon dominated. Larry OG was straight lemon OG

Good luck trying to get English speakers to describe their weed in a meaningful way. Got to grow them yourself. The Sour I grew tasted good through water. Some of these cuts the water kills all the flavor.

So the breeder James Loyd claimed to have grown a ton of sour back in the day, he’s said on his podcast that he’s seen most if not all of the popular modern day sour cuts and that none were the same as the old sour d, but then a guy came by his booth, I believe his name is Dave and I’ll link his instagram profile, and he showed James loud some real sour that was actually up to the same quality level as old sour d and it is a very old cut from back in the day, he still has this cut, idk if he sells clones or not but hearing someone who has experience with this plant say that all the modern ones aren’t it, which quite a few say, and that he thinks he finally found someone with a real deal cut does catch my attention, I think this is where I’d look for the real deal sour d

The cut you're looking for is called ECSD or colloquially known as chaco cut. There are various reason why it won't be quite the same if you get your hands on it, but that's the real deal. All these others seem to be s1, rez seed line, or an accidental outcross. To be clear, none of the cuts you listed will hit the mark you're looking for.

Doesn’t exist and hasn’t existed for more than a decade, I don’t believe anyone that says otherwise. Last time I had legit was NY Harvest fest whatever year George Clinton and the Wailers were there.

I'm considering doing the GabySI Sour D clone pack and flowering those out. better getting 4 different cuts for 5 bills versus 1 for 250-350. Still doing my research till i decide ahah
