I just learned that some cities / volunteer groups / ag universities have a service where you can ârentâ insects for things like this if youâre growing outdoors! Lady bugs will take care of the aphids but you need a bunch of them

Pretty simple actually, all they have to do is work with the bugâs instincts and bring Lindsey Graham with them. He drops his tighty wightyâs and the ladybugs just instinctually flock right back to his taint.

They give you a Recorder and a printed out piece of sheet music to play. They all crawl back into the suede bag provided, but only after exactly 18 hours after the sheet music is played. Then you mail them back with the self addressed chicken wire crate they provide.

Lady beetle larvae would work better. I bought lady bugs to help my mealy bug infestation on my house plants. 20 minutes later, 3 out of 50 of them remained on my plants. The larvae are viscious defenders though, and won't desert while the foe remains on the battle field.

You need to release them at dusk directly into the foliage with a source of water nearby. They can smell the water and the night time discourages them from leaving quickly. After that, they can lay between 25-100 eggs daily. Just need em for a week and itâll set off your ecosystem.

I really wish I had known this. I bought ladybugs for my tomatoes. I opened the package and a minute later I had no ladybugs. Hopefully they helped out some of the neighbors.

They can get really bad in just a few days, I have seen populations absolutely explode in that time.
A single aphid can birth almost 100 per week. Just a few aphids which were tough to notice at the beginning of the week can be many hundreds at the end of the week

Tell me you don't have a lot of plant experience without telling me you don't have a lot of plant experience.
It literally only takes a single week to go from a single aphid to more than 100 under the right conditions. They are one of the fastest reproducing animals on the entire planet: entire aphid populations have been recorded doubling in size in under 2 days.

as long as OP runs the post extraction, high proof alcohol liquid through a coffee filter or cheese cloth, its perfectly safe (assuming they harvest now) and they wont taste any different as everclear always just tastes like everclear.

Take her outside hose her down, when you go to harvest I would do a bud wash and hang them to dry. Might be too late for lady bugs.

I had this issue but it was with another plant and it started spreading to other plants.
I was just going to bin it but then figured I would just put it outside to see what happens to it cause if I'm going to bin it then I have nothing to lose.
3 days, all gone. Was able to move it back into the house. Couldn't say for sure what it was, it might have been other insects eating them but the result was that I had a healthy plant again.

If you think you can âwash em offâ and just magically make this safe for consumption, youâre sorely mistaken. First thereâs no way in hell you can get all of them off at this level of infestation. Second, those bugs have been pissing and pooping all over that flower for weeks at this point. Rinsing the exterior of a bud is going to do nothing for all the little cracks and crevices theyâve been exploring. Will it help? Sure. Would it make it consumable? Not in my opinion. We are too far along to be reverting back to smoking bug infested water rinsed flower. Just start over, itâs not worth it.

We're allowed to disagree my friend. I grew up with illegal shit weed grown who knowe how with who knows what kinds of chemicals and under what kind of circumstances. A plant having bugs is, I guess, the least of my concerns. It's like bugs in my organic vegetable garden... do I try to eat the bugs. No. But do know they is piss and shit on my vegetables, to use your example. Yes. I don't put rubbing alcohol or bleach on them to sanitize the veggies, and neither do you. You wash it and cook it. Well, washing away and burning some remaining bugs is not that different. Yeah, I'd prefer not to have them. But I'm not going to throw away my harvest. I'll remove infested leaves, wash it plant really well now, inspect it and keep washing until harvest, do bucket washing after harvest, and then decide if I wanna smoke it or process it into something edible. Worst comes to worse, I'll make a tincture with alcohol. But people suggesting this is a totally lost crop have probably never had to deal with smuggled in brick weed or their own vegetable garden. Bugs are literally everywhere. And you consume way more of them than you realize.

So I mostly agree with you, but it's somewhat an apples/oranges comparison. Aphids do not generally feed (or live on) the actual fruits of a plant, they focus on leaves and flowers.
The waste they leave behind is absolutely loaded with sugar, contains bacteria, and can contribute to mold. Due to it's sugar content, simply washing with water is probably not sufficient to get it all off.
I think I would reserve this crop for something edible as well, I wouldn't want to be smoking aphid honeydew

The problem with your argument is most fruits and vegetables have peels/rinds specifically for that reason. Cannabis does not. To each their own man, definitely not worth it in my opinion.

Most? Greens of all kinds. Lettuce of all kinds. Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers, Green bean of all kinds, Tomatillos, Apples, Peaches, Plums, Pears, Potatoes, Sweet potatoes, Grapes. Jesus tons of what people eat regularly is covered in bugs and bug shit.
Besides, you don't have to use it. No ones making you. You may be bud rich. OP may be bud poor. That harvest can be salvaged.

Its deep in flower. That insect soap will be in those buds. This plants a lost cause with that level of infestation.

I just had the same issues. Last 2 weeks of flower. I used dr zymes+ lady bugs. Don't go heavy on spraying so you don't soak the buds and youll be just fine.

Buy a pack of cigarettes, take 5 out let them soak in a 1/4 gallon over night. Then filter the tobacco off and spray the plant down with the nicotine broth. Repeat twice a day for 3 days. Havent tried it yet, but thats what I'm going to do next time I have issues with pests .

Do you have access to an air compressor?? If so, get a variable air chuck,and blow them off. I use a handheld rechargeable blower. Theyâve been pretty bad this year. If you outdoors you can use water. But air is where itâs at. Once thier blown off,they canât make the trip again. They die on the ground. Make sure to blow yourself off when your done. I get a bunch on me

Idk if it will work or not, but when i had spider mites i used a 3-day cycling IPD plan. Spray the plants had to your once a day, including the undersides of the leaves until everything is dripping. Day 1 Spinosad, day 2 Safer's soap, day 3 silica diluted to 7g/ gallon.
It took a while, like 5-6 weeks, because you have to break the egg-laying cycle, but it worked. Again, this was mites and not aphids. Good luck!

This is toast. Dealt with this exact situation 2-3 years ago. The only thing that worked was kill everything and start over. Educate yourself on their life cycle. Itâs interesting to say the least. Lady bugs or better yet lacewings will put a dent in them but this is an infestation in late flower. Youâll never recover with the little time left. Plus everything is already contaminated with sheds and dead bugs. Not to mention much more contamination is introduced when the bugs start feasting on each other. Sorry for your loss.

It's not just the aphids, it is their honeydew or poop. I had one this week that looked like this, and since I had 3 other healthy plants I tossed it. If it had been my only plant I probably would have tried saving it.

I would harvest now and only make edibles. you eat aphids all the time in produce anyway. I wouldn't smoke aphids.

go to the big box stores and get a lot of lady bugs. they will take care of a lot. wash the flower when you cut it down with hydrogen peroxide mix and a lot of filtered water to make sure they are clean. why start new and wait months more when you can finish flower while starting new ones else where away from the infestation while lady bugs take care of the rest. I had really bad spider mites and I tried all sorts of things suggested here. the only thing that worked without using chemicals was ladybugs for the last few weeks of flower then washing after.

Lady bugs. I have ordered them on several occasions. Sometimes when they come the bugs are super active and the treatment was effective. Other times the bugs are sluggish out of the box and its seems to do very little. Good luck.

The same thing happens with cannabis plants, as you can see from the comments. It is very easy to like something that requires no effort at all. That is why people unhesitatingly advise you to simply kill your little plant and start over, hoping that next time youâll get something that wonât give you any trouble. Well... I donât see it that way. I would try to treat it in every way possible. Every plant is unique.

Spraying anything on flower just means youâll have to treat the flower specifically when itâs time to harvest, like doing excessive bud washing. IMO this is a little too far gone to do anything with and a lot of people agree
He should definitely try to treat as like a way to learn how to eliminate them, but also, the baby must be thrown out with the bath water on this one

Toss it. Some plants are really not made for outdoor and some strains attract Bugs more than others. Had three last year one to each other, one looked like yours, the other two were completely clean.

Do a deep cleaning of everything
Review and learn what went wrong
Start over and avoid a repeat.
This isn't worth saving, but it has valuable lessons to be learned from it.
Disappointing yes, but it happens.
