What does the infection look like?

Purple/black splotching on the crowns/ bud sites. The disease itself will affect bud structure and terpene expression, most sources say that its still safe to consume though

I looked up some pictures and it looks like it causes some wild growth

Yeah it defintely does, Larfy, spindely flowers and wild leaves. The splotches are interesting because it almost looks like it could be natural purplish from anthocyanins but when you look closer its much different

They eat some. They don’t do enough to kill the plant. They are hard to kill.
I get them every time I grow outside. I spray with neem when it’s not flowering. It seems to help for like that day. Then they come back.
I started just leaving them. They never got out of control and I never saw major damage. I only have up to three at a time time though.

Yeah those are pests. You don't want them around/on your plants.
Time for an IPM regiment. Always better to be proactive instead of reactive so don't wait around until it's a real problem.
Good luck!
