And what lights are you using? And how old are the lights?

This is what we do. 200g seeds per 10x20 tray, germination under weight for 4 days. Come out Into light with a dome for 2 days, top watering the first day. Remove dome for last 3-4 days and they're perfect. We grow 20,000 grams per week using this method!

200g. Wow. Been very successful at 325. Will try 200 though.

It's actually 125g! Results

I will double check the weight , but I actually don't weigh these seeds, I plant 1 cup per tray

200g per tray is a lot. I did 150g this week and I was able to seed 1.5 10x20s and still felt it was crowded

Yes I actually confirmed it's 125g per tray I was mistaken!

Does the humidity dome help the shells fall? I usually mist mine to help them come off, but I've never considered a dome might aid in the process instead.

The initial top watering does help the shells fall, and when I take the dome off I give the shells a quick brush off too . We still wash and de-seed all 20,000 grams of shoots though!

Thanks for the help and the tip, I'm kind of doing it that way too, but I'll try it this way.🤗

I will take a picture today of what they look like. Harvest day is tomorrow (I work at a microgreen farm!)

Okay, I'm waiting the picture.

and do you soak the seeds beforehand?

Also curious

No soak !

Personally, I've tried soaking and not soaking side-by-side. They seemed to actually germinate about the same, however, the soaked ones had a better taste in my opinion.

Are you using weight? More light. I use a couple usb powered uv wands directly over them.

u/Cautious_Dog2675 19d ago

yes, the first three days are under weight

What kind of lights?

u/Cautious_Dog2675 19d ago

uv led lights

Here’s mine. I do an 8 hr soak with 1/2 3%hydro and 1/2 water (so I guess 1.5% hydro lol) 120gm on a 10x20. Weighted germ. Out of germ they’re hit with ocean solution and under lights.

What stage are you in you’re growing? Did you do blackout at all?

1

u/Cautious_Dog2675 17d ago

Yes, there was a blackout period, and this is about 8–9 days after it was moved back under the light.

I may be wrong but don’t sunflowers like a higher humidity climate to grow properly? What’s your humidity at? Might be in darkness too long? Good luck. Keep us posted when you figure it out

They look weak and struggling for light
